Guest guest
To all that have written w suggestions and comments I thank you for the support. It was confirmed today that my one year old son's 90k is failing and needs to be replaced. Very, very frustrating.... > Has anyone looked to see if he has an indentation at the magnet sight? If so, the magnet strength is too high and this hurts. Over time, the magnet strength can be reduced because the swelling from the surgery goes down so you don't need the same strength you did when you were activated. Other than that, the only thing I can think about that might be distressful for him would be that he may be getting too much sound and doesn't like it. > > It's so hard to say at this age because he's still a baby and sometimes they just do things like this because they are showing their independance. If you don't see signs of discomfort around the magnet or perhaps too much sound to be comfortable, you can purchase wig tape that can be used to keep the magnet on his head until he gets over this phase. > > Please tell us what you find out about this. > > Alice > > > > > > > This said, recently he has become extremely upset w the headpiece and > > is flicking it off w high frequency. Guest guest
I'm so sorry to read this. He's just a baby but a smart one if he knew to flip the headpiece off. I didn't want to suggest it as I felt you would find out when you went to your son's CI Team. Do you have a date for the re-implant? It sounds as if it falls under those that were recalled. I'm sure this is very frustrating for you. Alice > > To all that have written w suggestions and comments I thank you for > the support. Guest guest
I understand your feeling. I would recommend to have him re-implant if you want to raise him in active hearing lifestyle. Remember you are paving your son into his life in the future. -gs On 17 Nov 2004 04:47:12 -0000, < > wrote: > Message: 18 > Date: Wed, 17 Nov 2004 03:58:47 -0000 > From: " tramav " <tramav@...> > Subject: Re: Son Flipping Headpiece UPDATE > Does not appear related to recall..Date for re-implant is 12.2. > Really struggling w this..Not sure if we should continue w ab or move > on... -- Greg Swager gswager@... Guest guest
I'm so sorry your son and your family will have to go through being reimplanted, I hope all goes well for him the 2nd time around. I'm wondering.. will they reimplant the same ear or go with the opposite ear? It's good to know though that he will once again have a chance at hearing. Good luck and I can only say, you will make the best choice for your son as to which device to implant, and this choice will be right for you and him no matter which way you go. Please keep us updated. Hugs, Silly MI In , " tramav " <tramav@m...> wrote: > > To all that have written w suggestions and comments I thank you for > the support.
