Guest guest
I agree with that something should be done so this incident never happens again. I've had poor experiences also but none that compares with 's experience. I've come to the conclusion that my safety depends on me because people are so often unreliable. We have a " buddy system " at my former employment but so very often, my " buddy " would be out of the office whenever something occurred such as a fire alarm or evacuation due to another incident. I realized I must be aware of my surroundings and investigate any unexpected change....such as seeing people leave or the office is suddenly quiet and it's not lunch or quitting time. Without my auditory clues, I would be as lost as was. The same is true at my home. Living alone is not always easy but I do have a system of visual alerts and even vibrators when I'm asleep to wake me for any type of noise or intrusion. Just wondering if anyone has more ideas for safety: at the office, in the home, and on the streets. --Gayle > , > That could have been a scary incident. Well, it was. Guest guest
Gayle, At home, I use a sound signaler (Alertmaster 6000) which alerts me via a vibrating pager to various sounds around my home including the phone, doorbell, fire alarm and smoke detector. When traveling outdoors, I wear a personal alarm which emits a 90 dB horn when activated.
Guest guest
...Yes! That sounds wonderful to me and I too want to get something similar. I've been extremely lucky all my life that I've avoided danger. I am waiting to get my implant and once that is working, I plan to check into a personal device that I can use for emergencies and one that will alert me via pager/vibrator when my alerting system goes off. HMMMMMMMMMM...maybe I just need a hubby! *laughing* --Gayle > Gayle, > > At home, I use a sound signaler (Alertmaster 6000) which alerts me via a > vibrating pager to various sounds around my home including the phone, > doorbell, fire alarm and smoke detector. Guest guest
Gayle, Get yourself a hubby! <grin> I think you'll really like the extra safety you get by using an alerting system. I've had mine for the past 9 years. One time it went off in the middle of winter when the fire alarm went off at 4 in the morning. There was a real fire in the building and it's frightening to think what would have happened if I didn't have the alerting system.
