sorry I don't agree with you on that Lee. I can't understand my co-workers

at work most of the time. I need to have people repeat what they say too

much. I love to go to the Loading Dock (this is a bar but I don't drink)

to listen to friends that play Irish music (have some friends that dance

also). Once the music starts I stop talking to others. The music sounds

more like noise, but sometimes I can hear the wind instruments or the

string instruments, but not always. I haven't talked on the phone and

" understood " what was said in over 25 years. That isn't truly functional

or practical, that is struggling to 'get by'.

I guess the reason I finally decided that a CI is for me was when I

realized I was missing too much and was tired of 'struggling to get

by'. Now if the insurance company doesn't drag their heels.......

Whoops. I didn't know I was using a technical term when I said " functional " .

Sorry for the confusion.

I tried to reply but got fatal errrrrrooors message?

, your hearing's a puzzle to me. When my hearing went, I lost the

ability to hear music with the ability to use the phone. With the CI I got the

ability to use the phone and I'm hoping some new program will get the music

going--I hear they're working on that. I hear the bass thump really well but

melody is just plain annoying.

Well Hal.. my hearing has always been a puzzle to me also. Last night

while listening to the music it was mostly just noise, but every once in

awhile I can hear the different sound that had to be a string or wind

instrument. The notes were different then the drums, more of a lighter

tone. I can't hear them all the time, just once in awhile. The only time

I can 'really' hear music is when I put on a head set and crank up the

volume, but even now that is getting harder to do with the cd player I use.
