Sheesh! 115! Trust me you do NOT want a 115lb. Hearing Ear dog! I

have enough trouble with a 60lb. Hearing Ear dog jumping - no

lunging - at me whenever a sound is heard.

Hi All,

Just wanted to share this with all of you. Although I've never had a hearing

ear dog, a friend has had several and one of them, a standard sized poodle

would alert him by putting her paw on his leg and her nose on his nose, not

lunging at him. She did, however, develop some of her own feelings towards

certain

friends of his and he would find out later that she wouldn't alert him when

those certain friends came to visit. :) He said he never could break her of that

habit, she just had a mind of her own about certain people.

Regards,

Shirley

I am getting a baby rat terrier sometime soon so this is interesting. I know

this breeder that shows them and if they don't like to go down in the hole or if

the ears aren't just right or something like that he gives them away. I am on

his list!!!! The only requirement is to have them neutered or spayed.

Right now I have a miniature pincher that just came up to the door before

Christmas and I have tried like everything to find her owner. She is a good dog

but loves to run out the door and wonder around (probably how she got lost) I

want a puppy to train from young.

as a hearing dog??

Yes they can, the centre I use for my Hearing Ear dog mainly uses

Shelties, mini poodles and small mixes. My Hearing Ear dog is Half

Border Collie and Half Golden Retriever. I requested a bigger dog

because I cant see the smaller breeds and have a tendacy to

accidently kick 'em across the room <snickering>. My Hearing Ear dog

is semi-retired now (in house work only).
