Guest guest
Hi Moses, Cochlear has led the way with many implant innovations and I am happy that I have the Nucleus. The implant will give you all the frequencies from around 100 HZ to 8000 Hz. I'm not sure of the exact numbers but I know this is what I have on my map. The high frequencies you get!!! When I was first hooked up, all I heard were the high frequencies and it actually can get a bit frustrating because those low frequencies are so important to the quality of sound. Music sounds terrific when the lows do finally get perceived! To help enhance the high frequencies when you need it (like trying to hear a small soft voice in a quiet environment), you have the Whisper setting on the 3G. I have used the Whisper setting in the theater and with soft speakers. It truly does the job. The switch that holds the Whisper setting also has the telecoil. The telecoil is for hearing on the telephone. I can hear any conversation in the noisiest situation, even more so than my normally hearing friends. It is one of my favorite features. Please continue to ask any questions you like about the Nucleus or just the experience of wearing an implant. I started losing my hearing at age 12 and got my implant at age 39. I lost all the high frequencies by the time I got the implant so I know how hard it is to hear without them!
