We used to wear rubber boots about 20 hours a day and our feet steamed into an athlete's foot mess. By dipping them into apple cider vinegar once or twice, not drying them off, just putting on socks over the wet feet, the athlete's foot disappeared almost immediately. It seems it can't live in a changed pH.
