Hi , my surgery is next Wed. and I will be on a liquid diet for one week and soft diet for two weeks. Could this have caused your problem in that it was too soon to eat chicken? That sounds to early for me. I plan to go an a liquid diet two or three days before my surgery too. I don't want them to find too much trapped food in the esophagus. Sorry you are having problems. I will keep you posted on my surgery too. Bev. Good luck!

,

Don't get frustrated yet. Sometimes there is alot of swelling. It took me

about 3 weeks to get to the place where I could swallow anything. Take it

slow! Stick with the soft stuff

I had my myotomy done on 7/22. They ended up doing a nissen

fundoplication (not too tight) instead of dor inasmuch as they

decided that was the best route after being in there and seeing the

hiatus hernia. It was twisting and pulling up on my esophagus which

kinked it some. I go in tomorrow for follow up and to see if I can

get more answers. I'm just a little frustrated ( no patience - only

a week I know) because certain foods get really stuck. I had a run

in with chicken teriyaki and thought I was going back to the hospital

with a piece of stuck chicken. You all are a great place for info

and support. Thanks.

Hi ,

I'm so glad to read that your surgery is over and the hard part is behind you.

This is a good time to let yourself be pampered so don't rush into anything,

especially work. Normally, people take two weeks after surgery If you have

some dizziness perhaps you are getting up too fast or you are turning your head

in any direction too quickly and that includes up or down. Some people do

experience dizziness but it normally subsides.

Suggestion - if you are not sleeping/resting in a recliner and you have access

to one - start using it until this has passed. For some reason the recliner is

easier on us.

Congratulations on being implanted. We'll soon be reading all about your

activation and that will be an exciting day. Will your mom go to the activation

with you?

Alice

I had my CI surgery done on Wednesday, May 12th.

I was a nervous wreck. I did everything I could think of not to think about

it. But, I lived through it.

,

Glad to hear your surgery went quite well, now you just need to heal

and wait for the hookup.

Please rest as much as you can and don't overdo.

Hope you aren't returning to work soon, but you know yourself the

best.

Looking forward to hearing more from you and glad you let us know

all went well.

Hugs,

Silly MI
