Guest guest
, I want to thank you for all the sharing you have done about your experience with your CI. Each journal you have sent has been very interesting and I have not recently told you how much I enjoy reading them. Today's message was very special as I could tell that you were very surprised at what you heard. That's a CI Moment and sometimes they just happen without warning and give us very special moments. Good luck with Speak. I don't prefer it to ACE but you just might. A lot of people prefer Speak. I'm surprised your audiologist hasn't tried this already but it's good that you are headed in that direction next month. In my opinion, it's quite different than ACE. Alice From as long as I can remember that whenever I needed to talk to someone I had to get right up to them. Since my implant I have 'heard' the voices of people but not able to understand them. Well today I was walking to the store to get a paper and saw a pastor that I knew (church is in neighborhood but I don't attend the church) and said 'hi' that you don't have to go far to work anymore (the church bought the house next door to the church). He said 'no' but it was a big move from a bigger place to a smaller place, but the two older boys were in college now. Ok... this is the conversation, the big part was that I was NOT NEAR HIM AS HE TALKED. I was in the alley and he was by his back door which was quite a distance. I understand every word he said. Of course it was quiet (no cars, no wind, no airplanes etc.) but it was still something I never could have done with my HA. susan & hobbes michigan ps.. the voices are still the pits. Been emailing with the audi and she has been in contact with Cochlear and they suggested I switch from ACE to Speak. So next month I am going to try and go down for a switch. Guest guest
Hi , Nice to hear from you. I hope you like your new New England home. ACE and Speak are speech strategies on the Nucleus product. You wouldn't be able to get them on your Clarion implant. Alice What are Ace and Speak? My audiologist never mentioned either!
Guest guest
I'm a pre-ling and using CI for a year and 4 months. I've been using SPEAK for a year. I tried using ACE several months ago. I've been using it in about 1 /2 months. ACE works well in quiet environment but very poor in noisy environment. Most of the sounds are in " high frequency " which it's too high for me to listen. It's a big different between SPEAK and ACE in sounds. I rather stick to SPEAK. I've had some CI moments without lipreading in some words, but not in sentences yet. There's still waiting to be happened. -gs -- Greg Swager gswager@...
Guest guest
Hi Greg. I am going to the audi on the 6th of Aug to switch over to SPEAK. I have no real problem with ACE except for the whiny sound with peoples voices. I am hoping that SPEAK will not take away the environment sounds that I have come to look for. I have gotten to the point where cars don't bother me as much, but still sometimes sound like an emergency vehicle going by. Did you noticed any difference between SPEAK and ACE with the environment sounds? susan & hobbes michigan At 12:42 PM 7/19/2004 -0600, you wrote: >I'm a pre-ling and using CI for a year and 4 months.
