benadryl , divers,and vascular system

this week someone mentioned on TV [sylvia Browne on Montel show]

about divers taking benadryl becuse it helps something,but it

opens up the vascular system and it does not " close " properly, later,

and the person dies..can someone here explain this further??exactly why

do they take it and does it matter so much?did they take an extra one

or something?
