Guest guest
: I was banded on 7.29.2005. I did all of the research on the available surgeons in Mexico and decided on Dr. Aceves because I could not find one negative thing said about him. I have not had a single complication with my surgery and felt well enough to return to work the next day if I would have needed to. I also have been back to see Dr. Aceves for my fills and really have nothing but good things to say about him, his team and the hospital there. Everyone I have dealt with on Dr. Aceves's team, is not only very professional but also very warm and caring. I absolutely know that I selected the best surgeon for this prodedure. Best Wishes in your banding journey! Sharon dob 7.29.2005 264/240/

Guest guest
Hey , I had my surgery with Dr Aceves on July 20, 2005. I had a wonderful experience. Dr Aceves and his staff were amazing. From the minute you get off the airplane in San Diego to the minute you return home you are well cared for. Ernesto picks you up at the airport and will take you directly to the hospital. When I arrived I realized I had forgotten several things that I thought I would need. Ernesto stopped at Wal-Mart for me and let me shop. He was so nice about it. As soon as I got to the hospital Yolanda was there to greet me with a bug smile and put all my fears at ease. She stayed with me through every step and her English was perfect. Everyone on staff at the hospital took excellent care of me and my husband. Dr Aceves was so different from the Dr.'s I had been to in the states. He was compassionate and took a lot of time to explain things and answer all of my questions. I was really impressed with the hospital. Other Dr.'s I checked out did the surgery in a clinic and I really wanted a hospital. The hospital was clean and my husband commented on all the staff they had. We had someone at our beck and call if we needed them. Dr Aceves is part of a small group that is certified by the FDA approved INAMED band company. Believe me, I did a lot of research before choosing Dr Aceves. All my work paid off and I had a great experience. I could go on and on singing the praises of Dr Aceves. Please feel free to call me or email me directly if you have any questions. Good Luck in your decision. In Washington State Banded 7/20/05 210/179/140 (425) 346-0713 Why Choose this surgeon. Guest guest
, Well lets see there are several reasons I choose Dr. Aceves, first was the price, the cost of surgery was with in my reason and I couldn't afford to go anywhere else, second was all of the great reviews I got from previous patients of his, so these were the two reasons I choose him, and boy was I correct, he was everything everyone ever said, he was great, the hospital was clean and awesome, the stafff took care of you like you were a king or queen, and his creditionals and experience all checked out to be top notch, you will be making an excellent choice if you choose Dr. Aceves. Guest guest
Hey or anyone considering surgery. I just pulled up the old post I wrote right after I had my surgery with Dr Aceves in July. Brings back memories. I hope it helps answer some of your questions. Have a great day! . From: "" <jugross@...> Date: Sat Jul 23, 2005 12:19 pm Subject: I'm back, banded, and I feel great! jugross Send IM Send Email Hey Everyone, I returned home last night from being banded onWednesday the 20th. To all of you who are considering this I cantell you it was a breeze. I have 100+ confidence in Dr Aceves. Heis honestly one of the most competent, caring Dr.s I have workedwith. I have had many surgeries but this one was the easiest. Notonly because it is a simple procedure, but Dr A and his whole staffare amazing. My biggest worry was that I would get nauseous aftercoming out of the anesthesia. The Anesthesiologist came in andtalked with me and PROMISED me that he would not let me get sick.He kept his promise and all went well. The hospital is clean andvery staffed. My husband was surprised at how many nurses wereworking. Help was every where when we needed it. After my surgeryI did not want any pain medicine. The pain was minimal but Dr Acame in and wondered why I was turning down my meds. Once again Ilet him know I was worried about getting sick and he assured me thestuff he would give me would be Ok. Since I trusted him completelyI agreed and took the IV pain meds. It didn't make me spacey orsick. What a change from all my other experiences. Also, thehospital is so clean. Housekeeping came in 2-3 times a day andcleaned the bathroom and the floor. When I arrived at the airport Ernesto was there with my name on asign and drove us to Mexicali. We had a great time talking with himand he really helped the nerve racking two hours pass quickly. Heeven made a stop at Wal-Mart for me when I realized I had forgottenmy camera. Calexico has the biggest Wal-Mart I have ever seen!Next, when we walked in the hospital Yolanda (Nina's Mom) was therewith a big smile and comforting personality. She took me to myroom, explained everything. She was right there to explain what wasgoing on. I had a few tests and was Ok'd for surgery. I was out inno time. Dr A came in to visit me afterwards and noticed the couchin our room was a smaller one. He didn't want my husband to beuncomfortable so he had our rooms changed. Yolanda thought the roomwas a little warm so she went and found a fan for us to have for thewhole stay. They thought about everything and really cared that wewere comfortable.Everyone on Dr A.s staff speakes excellent english. Some of thenurses do not speak english and it would be helpful for anyone goingwith you to learn a few words or look at the helpful phrases Yolandagives you. My husband wanted to go to The Italian restaurant acrossthe street from the hospital and Yolanda drove him over there andmade sure someone spoke english so my husband could order his food. You will never feel alone or will the person coming with you.I had my surgery Wednesday late afternoon and as of this morning Ihave lost 8 1/2 pounds. I know it is water weight, but hey it is astart.I want anyone who is considering this surgery to know if you go withDr. Aceves he is the best. Those horror stories of unqualified Dr.sin Mexico do not apply to Dr A. He was trained by the FDA approvedLapband company Inamed and is more qualified than most AmericanDoctors. If you have any questions you can ask Nina or . Theywill answer any of your questions. I am so happy I have done thisand am looking forward to being healthy again. I started at 210 andhope to get back down to 140 lbs. I had several car accidents andone injury to my low back that started my weight gain. I was unableto excercise and the weight just kept piling on. My problem wasthat the more weight I gain the worse the low back was feeling. Iknew within a year or 2 my weight would greatly increase so Iwasnted to take charge. To me Lap Band was/is the safest, lessinvasive way for me to do this. I could go on for hours singingthe praises of Dr. Aceves and his staff. If you have any questionsplease feel free to ask me, my email address is jugross@...Sorry about all the rambling. I am just so excited to be home andfeeling so well so fast. I am off to take a walk with the family.Have a great day! Why Choose this surgeon. Guest guest
Hello , I know us Aceves Bandsters, must sound like a cult. But if we are, I am proud to call myself a member!! I have experienced nothing but excellent care by Dr. Aceves & Co. I wanted to mention the 'after care'. Dr. A likes to keep records of our progress for statistics and to help keep us motivated. The information helps everyone. This board is nice too. Its comforting knowing that through our struggles with weight, we can get feed back and encouragment from one another. The different levels of success can support our efforts. When I was inquiring about banding doctors, someone from another board emailed me saying, " if I plan on getting banded, there is no one better than Dr. Alberto Aceves " . I am so glad I trusted their advice. So I too am a member of the Dr. Aceves fan club...getting banded by Dr. A is the best decision I have ever made for myself. I give him worship. Thats my story and I'm stickin to it. Guest guest
Ditto Dawnita...however, #2 was what made me decide on Dr. A. All the others were equally as important but #2 was what made it a deciding factor between Dr. A and another Doctor. It was comforting to know that if anything came up, the hospital was equipt to provide the necessary support. Guest guest
Hi , I've got to say that I agree with Deb SM...especially in the aftercare. Dr. A called me once to follow up on my fill and give me much needed advice. Over the phone lines his compassion is tangible. You will be in the best of hands if you choose Dr. A. I guess I'm a cult member as well...LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL! The support this site has provided me is equal to none. Just recently my state was hit back to back with three hurricanes...Katrina, Rita and the one that shook me, Wilma. As you can see by reading the posts...I'm getting the support I need to live with the band.
