Hi Steve

I do think that the more electrodes a person has the better..I think this is why

the companies have more. One thing about having more is to help persons like

yourself and me with problem cochleas.Had there been only 8 electrodes available

at the time of our activation we would have been in big trouble. We could have

even fewer than the 13 you have and the 10 that I had.

I heard very well with only 10 electrodes until I began having problems with my

migrating receiver/stimulater.My audiologist was able to get 19 activated and I

was hearing more high pitches..now with my newly repositioned

receiver/stimulater and the 19 electrodes I am doing very well. But who

knows..with the repositioned stimulater i might do well with those 10 electrodes

too.

You mentioned having another implant in the future..just could be that you will

gain more electrodes then.

Hi Steve, I did better with 15 electrodes on my N22 then I did with my N24

and all electrodes using the Sprint. Now with my 3G, I have regained my N22

skill level. I don't know if they have found the magic number for

electrodes yet. I think that there are a lot of components involved in the

success of CI use, some which are technological, some which are

physiological, and some which are psychological.

Glad to hear that you are doing well. Ruth
