Guest guest
That reminds me...if you can get your dh to pee around them, that will deter the deer also. (You can do it yourself, but it's much easier for a man.<G>) Sharyn From: health [mailto:health ] On Behalf Of Jan Jenson I've found, over the course of 40+ years of organic gardening, that blood meal and/or hair from the place you get your hair cut is a good deterrent for deer and rabbits. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
, Blood meal is made from dried slaughterhouse waste. yum. I certainly would not use it in my garden. I would be afraid of mad cow disease or something. But I do believe it is good as a deer deterrent, and is high in nitrogen. If used too much it can burn your plants because of high levels of ammonia. Carol Posted by: " jl " jl@... jxl123 Let me first begin by saying I do not know much about using bloodmeal as a deterrent or fertilizer, or even bloodmeal in genereal. Should I be concerned as to the source of the bloodmeal?? Where does bloodmeal come from? Prions from infected cows have been shown to be able to survive in soil for years. http://pubs.acs.org/cen/news/84/i09/8409prions.html Cheers
