Guest guest
Congratulations, April! This is great news. I'm so glad you are feeling fine. You've jumped a huge hurtle and now you have all the fun in store for you. I'm sure you are really happy to be on the other side of this now. Please try to rest, even though you are feeling good. It helps with the healing process. Looking forward to reading about your activation which appears to be two weeks away. I hope you aren't thru sharing your journey as it has just begun. Alice From: April<mailto:aprilmhubbell@...> Hello Everyone, I had my CI surgery yesterday morning at 8 am and I am feeling FANTASTIC! I can't believe how little pain there was. When I woke up in recovery the pain was about a 6 on a scale of 1 -10. By the time I left the hospital at 3pm it was down to a 3 out of 10. I never felt dizzy at all but my implanted ear is ringing like crazy. My tongue is a little numb on the implanted side but lots of people have told me it will go away soon. The surgeon used liquid stitches to close the incision. No sutures or staples - HOORAY! I go for a post op visit two days before my hook up to make sure everything is healed but if all is well I will hear again in three short weeks. Guest guest
wow, you got lucky. I had mine done right in my city. pretty big stitches that I got. about 6 inch long, i'd guess. I was icky/yucky for like a week. Even threw up after surgery. The ringing.... happened to me and drove me INSANE. I've found that it starts ringing when I become active and moving around. After a while, it does get quieter and the best thing to do is to REALLY INGORE it. Keep yourself busy enough to not notice the ringing. If I pause, I can hear the ringing. When I get the CI hookup, I probably won't notice the ringing at all since I'll be hearing sounds. So, hang in there. Wow, I like the liquid stitches idea, i had actual stitches. =p I haven't gotten hooked up yet - sept 7th. AH!! Hurry up sept 7th. =) April <aprilmhubbell@...> wrote: Hello Everyone, I had my CI surgery yesterday morning at 8 am and I am feeling FANTASTIC! I can't believe how little pain there was. To anyone out there who is thinking about getting an implant but still worried about the pain of surgery I can honestly say it's worth it. I know it's different for everyone but I am thrilled with my results. I never imagined that it would go so well. Thanks to all of you for sharing my journey.
