Guest guest
, I hope you don't mind my asking how long did it take you to lose the 235 pounds? I'm 18 months out and have lost 155. I am debating if I should have a revision since my loss has slowed down. I am going to curves and trying to remodel my body and I do want to have plastic surgvery in the future. Just sort of looking into my options. I feel 10000 times better than I did at 380 pounds but I'd like to get under 200. 140 seems like a dream to me even now. in DC
Guest guest
, I lost 153 lbs my first year out. It took a little over a year to lose the other 90+ lbs. I have been stable at 140 for about 6 months. I did have plastic surgery last December. I weighed 168 the day of my lower body lift and had 18 lbs of skin removed from my tummy, butt and outer thighs. So I was 2 years post-op when I had the PS. I ended up losing another 10 lbs within 6 months, or by June of this year and I have maintained that weight of 140 since then. I do play around with 3 or 4 lbs up and down, but always end up back at 140. A lot of it has to do with age. I am 52, so no amount of weight training or exercise was gonna take up that much loose skin! Unfortunately plastic surgery seems to be the second part of our journey to becoming " normal " . It's all still a " dream " to me! LOL If you have any further questions, please ask! Guest guest
, thanks so much for responding to my questions. I hope I continue to lose as well. I'm liking my workouts at curves, but Dr. Don would like me to wait a little longer before I do the PS. What have you had done beside lower body lift? WHo did you use? Guest guest
, I don't mind answering on the group, because it might help someone else on their journey. I had my breasts and arms done in Aug, 2003 at Duke with a Dr. Georgiade. I was not very happy with him or the results. So I ended up in Charlotte, NC with Dr. ph Hunstad who did my LBL. The only problem with those of us who were MO for so long and then had WLS, our skin is not the best in the world. I think we often have to have more revisions than the normal person. So I still had some poochy area above my bellybutton and a roll at my waist that could not be taken care of with the LBL. On Oct 25th I had a revision with Dr. Hunstad, and he did what he is now calling a Bra Line Back Lift. He did a vertical incision to take in the pooch, but also cut me under the breasts around my back to the other breast to take UP the roll at my waist. It worked! I dont have an inch of extra flesh anywhere on my torso. It looks great and I am tight as can be. Even with the swelling I am down to 30 inch waist. He did this as a revision and I only had to pay for OR and anesthesia. Now the only thing I have to have done is an inner thigh lift. He lifted my outer thighs just great during the LBL, and in fact, I can't even MAKE my thighs touch. (Remember how they always rubbed?) But they are saggy, baggy skin that looks like a 90 year old woman's legs, so I will have a medial thigh lift maybe next summer. I would also love a face lift, as I have a horrible " turkey waddle neck " , but who knows if I will ever be able to afford it. So far, insurance has covered all my plastics, thank God. I highly recommend Dr. Hunstad to anyone in the VA, NC, SC area who had WLS and is now looking at PS. He has a lot of experience with WLS patients and does a terrific job! He's a fantastic doctor, and I love him to death. I did see Dr. Don for a consult before choosing Hunstad. But Dr. Don would not do the LBL, and wanted to do the tummy tuck first. But when you have an apron as big as mine, and then another one at the waist, and so much hanging skin from losing 245 lbs, I don't think a TT would have taken care of it. I've seen some TT results on people that actually looked worse, because they needed a LBL. I wanted to get the most for my time and money too. So that's my story. If you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. Good luck on your journey!
