Guest guest
Hi there. I wanted to clarify and ask a few questions regarding the Med El implant. First off.....is this correct???? They are coming out with a new speech processor that the current users can upgrade to............as well as a new internal part that new patients could be getting some time in the future????? Is that right? Also....my daughter complains that with the FM booted in.....she has trouble hearing the kids around her......the enviromental stuff........and no matter what she does with the sensitivity dial......it does not seem to really help..... Is there anything that can be done??? Thanks!

I'm curious what implant your daughter use. She has the Tempo+. She got it Sept. 2001. She is doing decent.....but her speech skills are still not so hot. I was hoping they would come out with a new speech strategy. But when I heard about the new speech processor.....I thought perhaps that might make the difference.........but??? So.....what you are saying is........if she gets the Pulsar it won't make any difference at all to her......due to the internal make up? Guest guest
Hi , PULSARci100 is already out and already got their CE Mark. It's not yet approved by FDA and health regulations in most countries. Med-El will come out with new speech processor soon, I was told it will be 9 to 12 months. For the meantime, PULSARci100 implantees will be using Tempo+. Advantage of PULSARci100 will not show up unless the new speech processor is used. The new speech processor for PULSARci100 will work with Combi 40+, but it will not be able to use those new abilities that is available to PULSARci100 implantees. I'm curious what implant your daughter use. Regards/ Jerome Re: Re:Med El Hi there. I wanted to clarify and ask a few questions regarding the Med El implant. First off.....is this correct???? Guest guest
PULSARc100 is an implant. I don't know yet the name of the new speech processor for PULSARc100. How old is your daughter? Have you tried doing some more mapping for her? If she gets PULSARc100 now and uses Tempo+, the result will be similar to that of Combi 40+ plus Tempo+. However, if the new speech processor come out, PULSARc100 plus the new speech processor will be better than Combi 40+ plus the new speech processor. That its not so much she needs a new map......but that I jsut keep bringing her back every 4 months. ?????? 90% of the time.....her thresholds DO change........and sometimes quite dramatically....... I just scheduled a mapping for later this month........(last time was in early Feb). We shall see. Thanks,
