Hi Janet!

For the Nucleus, there is no specific order when it comes to strategies.

It's pretty much up to how the audie wants to program the processor. I

started out with SPEAK and played with it for 3 weeks before being switched to

ACE. I love ACE! I got my first " ahhhh this is nice map! " with an ACE

program and have been improving ever since. I have never tried CIS. I suppose

if I

really wanted to try it, my audie would put one on for me but I am doing

really well with ACE 900.

I will save some screen for others to post. ;-)

Have a good day!

Janet typed: " Cochlear implants are not for the indecisive, are

they? "

Take it from an indecisive person, Janet, yes they can be! On my hook up

day, my audie started me out with 2 versions of SPEAK and I fooled around with

them for two weeks, on my BWP. After two weeks, he did some tweaking of them

and added an ACE program for me to try for another 2 weeks. Well, I loved

the ACE program so much better so when I got my 3G at my next mapping

appointment which was 2 weeks later, I had him put ACE programs in both slots

and I have

had ACE ever since. You don't have to know right away what Strategy you

want to start out with. You can let your audie decide, like I did, and take it

from there.

Good luck to you!

Patti

Argh! More choices?!?! <big grin>

Cochlear implants are not for the indecisive, are

they?

Thanks to all for the clarification. I found the

whole " speech strategies " thing kind of confusing

but the website didn't say much about it.

Don't worry about these kinds of choices. You'll get to try everything and

one will stand out to you and sound better than the others. Not really a

decision, just a response to what you hear.
