Guest guest
I haven't heard of anyone having the mgb that has gained all their weight back. Have you? I think it has to do with the way our pouches are made and located. IT just makes sense with the rny that the pouch could extend down and stretch easier. Any ideas from anyone? barb dudley
Guest guest
TAKE your vitamins...I should not be throwing stones as this is very hard for me to do. I am taking them now like a religious zealot! BUT, I am just recovering from low iron and it is a bitch to fight...I had an iron infusion and felt MUCH, MUCH better in 24 hours and if any of you out there are battling low iron just go get an infusion...the difference was incredible. I go back to the doc in a few weeks to determine if I will need another one and how often, but it sure made a HUGE difference for me. I would do it again it a heart beat. Only risk is the risk of an alergic reaction, it is NOT a blood product, so no risk there...goes in by IV usually in a cancer clinic that makes you VERY grateful to be healthy! Re: 3 1/2 years and counting....questions I am 4 years out and (wasnt i one of your contacts??!!) You are lucky... i felt the same around 2.5 or 3 years out... well let me tell you.... you figure out that you CAN gain when you look at the scale one day and you are 7 pounds heavier!! LOL! BE CAREFUL!! TAKE YOUR VITAMINS! many people with malabsorption get osteoporosis, so take the calcium supplements (or tums)keep an eye on your iron!! these are things that can sneak up on you and not show any symptom until you are wayyyy out of control. be safe be healthy. i am tickled to death that you are doing so well! i am doing fine too except i fight off 5-7 pounds on a regular basis and my iron drops at times--- i try not to let either one get out of hand! be well!! cathy s in va > Hello Everyone! > Well, it's been 3 1/2 years since my mgb. Guest guest
Hi , I too have problems with my hemoglobin. I have been taking chromagen forte since 3 months after surgery. My iron level has not returned to the normal level yet. I have taken my vitamins as prescribed since the surgery. What do you do to get your iron up??? If Dr R is reading this...do you have any suggestions? Of course I continue to go to my local MD who gets blood test to show him how I am doing overall. Of course he is the one who prescribed the chromagen forte for me and said the levels rise slowly. This is really slow as now I am a little more that 7 months out of surgery. I talked with Penny with CLOS after sugary telling of my low hemoglobin and she said that was not typical of pts that close to their surgery date ....and that it took patients longer to develop the low iron. She did not have any other suggestions as to how to build my iron level. Maybe those patients with this issue have suggestions that have helped you. Suggestions or comments for me? Any comments on this would be appreciated. Thank you. Beth in SC Re: 3 1/2 years and counting....questions I am 4 years out and (wasnt i one of your contacts??!!)
