Guest guest
I had very high titres of Epstein-Barr and Cytomegalovirus for many years, but no one tested me. I was almost bedridden and after the sudden death of my spouse, I became the sole caregiver of my medically fragile, seizure prone son, Charlie. THose viruses are part of a larger family that includes measles, coldsores, genital Herpes and shingles. It is called Herpes family of viruses. It is very large. I began taking for its antiviral properties and within about a year and a half, was signficantly better. I could not afford the Valtrex at $425.00 per month that was prescribed. THe antiviral properties are only in tinctures made from FRESH (also known as Lemon balm, an easy to grow garden herb.) In ANY form, including dried in capsules, is calming and relaxing and hence helps with sleep. My sweet son LOVED to harvest huge bunches of and make iced tea out of it. He even invented a recipe using lots of fresh lemon balm. We called it Charlie's Weedy Chicken. So, now you know that in different forns, the same herb can exhibit different properties. Now, as for Melatonin....... that is the end result of Serotonin. You may want to try your child on either SAM-e (on an empty stomach) which helps the body produce serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine) or l-Tryptophan which also produces serotonin. Make sure there is adequate Niacin to make the magic happen in the body. Serotonin is what the body makes Melatonin from. Not enough serotonin means not enough melatonin. This critically affects the sleep/wake cycle. And, lack of sleep is a seizure trigger, amongst other things like moods and mental function and, and, and. get my drift here? SUNLIGHT is also critically important. EVERYONE needs at least 30 minutes of real, honest to goodness unfiltered sunshine daily to keep their bodies functioning on many levels. And, forget the sunscreen..... you need that UVB. Charlie walked to town for two hours almost every day, no matter how much snow there was. He was a redhead that craved the sun and its healing rays. I would suggest that Melatonin is NOT addictive, but that you work with your child at the beginning of the cycle rather than the end as that can provide other benefits in addition to sleep. PLEASE know that diet is critically important not only to our damaged kids, whether dead or alive, but to all of us. Doing pharmaceuticals only increases that dieatary importance. Try your child on an Atkins-like low carb diet and see what happens. Carbs in any form feed the yeast cycle. Nystatin will not do in all the fungus issues, but will help. Just decreasing sugar is not enough. THis is a tough one, I know, but the benefit can well overide the inconvenience. Feed you son (and you) PLAIN yoghurt at least once a day as the bacteria in the yoghurt fight off those nasty yeast bugs when they are out of control. So, consider the supplements above, lower the carbs, add healthy brain fats and deleten or eliminate those nasty excitotoxins. Tell me about the HANDLE program. I am not familiar with it. Hope this helps CHarlie's Mom mjh In a message dated 1/12/2006 4:24:53 PM Eastern Standard Time, susanwald@... writes: , thanks for the posts on the . I suspect my son has underlying viral issues. The B12valtrex group looks interesting. MJH, I looked up melissa officinalis after reading your post and it says it helps with sleeplessness. http://www.medicinenet.com/lemon_balm_melissa_officinalis-oral/article.htm Is that accurate in your opinion? My son was on 10 mgs of melatonin a night, and although he was still not sleeping through the night his quality of sleep was much better. My husband insisited I stop as he says it will inhibit his natural production of seratonin and he will become " addicted. " Right after I stopped the melatonin everything fell apart at school and they sent him home after lunch for 6 weeks because he couldn't function at all in the afternoons. I have since started his HANDLE program and the nasal B12, plus reduced sugar intake and am treating yeast with Nystatin, so he's doing much better, but I would like to get him sleeping through the night. Also, thank you for your continued posts. l learn from you every day. mjh " The Basil Book " http://foxhillfarm.us/FireBasil/

Guest guest
I never measure anything, but here goes: 1/2 cup of olive oil 1/2 cup (or less) of lemon juice or ACV (you might want to use less ACV and make the difference up with water-you don't want it too sharp) 1 to 3 cloves garlic 1 or more tablespoons fresh thyme leaves and tender stems 1/4 cup fresh parsley, leaves and stems 1/4 cup fresh lemon balm leaves and tender stems, or more Blend til smooth and taste. Add water or oil to taste if too vinegary. Optional: some super tonic fresh sage, oregano, garlic leaves, green onions or whatever else is growing I do it all on impulse, so taste it and balance it the way that tastes best to you.
