Just wanted to weigh in on some of the issues..

Kiernan never really slept through the night.. from a baby on.. he was

always up at least once or twice during the night.. at least until he

was 2 1/2 and we had a neurologist look at him.. he said it was more

than likely that his brain just couldn't settle completely down.. or

shut down for a long period of time for sleep... so for him.. the meds

helped.. he's been on Risperdal since then.. he is now 4 1/2 and it

helps him calm down.. now he sleeps through the night.. the only

problem we have is now he sleep walks up and into our bed about 2-3am

each night and we wake up with him between my husband and myself...

when we try to move him.. he'll wrap himself around me and scream

mommy and won't let us budge... i'd rather him get a good nights sleep

than fight with him.. but i know that eventually this is a trend that

will have to be stopped... that or i'm going to need a much bigger bed!

I've been lucky that Kiernan has never toe walked.. but he does walk

on his heels (ok.. so he's a bit opposite).. but according to some OT

and PTs I've talked too.. they says for some kids it's a sensory

seeking act... there are more nerves in the toes than anywhere else

in the foot...so when tip toeing/toe walking.. there is more

stimulation being felt... with Kiernan it's a balance issue.. the one

major side effect from the Risperdal was doubling his weight in a

year.. and his body still hasn't adjusted 100% to all of that

excess.. so he puts more pressure on his heels to kinda dig in and

get that balance..

, please let me know what I can do to help with the fundraiser..

they have just moved Kiernan to am classes so now both he and my

daughter are in school at the same time... so I have 3 hours a morning

to myself... i haven't gotten used to it yet! lol.. will take awhile

i'm sure.. but I am more than willing to help!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Takre care!
