Guest guest
, If someone were to meet you off the street for the first time would they say you are to thin? Family and friends are used to seeing a much larger you, so they are comparing the old you with the new you, not really looking at what size you are compared to the general population. Don't worry about it, enjoy it. :-) Trish

Guest guest
, My name is Liz and I had the MGB on 12-20-99. I was 280 and 5'11 at the time of my surgery. I am now still 5'11 and weigh 145 and I am in a size 6 jeans. I have gotten down to 140 but I tend to fluctuate between 140 and 150. I can make myself gain weight and i can make myself loss weight. People tell me I am to thin to and I look anorexic but as long as I feel good I could care less what they say. Somedays I eat what seems to be alot other days I don't eat anything at all. My body lets me know when it is in need of something. I wouldn't worry what other people say just as long as you are happy and feel good. Take Care, Liz

Email me privately with your address, as I will be going down after the first of the year and will try to look you up. I agree with you: I eat anything/everything. Some things (most) agree with me; Some don't (mostly greasy things). I have to be vigelent as many things have " hidden " fats, example " wandas " a christmas cookie coovered in powdered sugar. Guest guest
It's so funny - I just had this conversation with out of town company last night. They asked me - how does it stop? I remember Dr. R talking about this. I asked him in Sept if he had a goal in mind for me and his answer was: where you stop is where you stop. He said he tries his best to " guestimate " how much stomach to staple and how much intestine to bypass but that it is not an exact science by any means. I am also having people tell me that I shouldn't lose anymore. At 5'7 and 157 pounds I am nowhere near " skinny " . I am finally " average " . I still have a roll of fat on my midriff area and all the extra tummy skin. I agree that it's just that no one has ever seen us at a healthy weight before. I've never felt better. I've never had this much energy and stamina since I was a teenager. I actually " caught myself " almost running up the basement stairs the other day. I used to have to stop halfway up to catch my breath and take one step at a time. I am trying to clean my house - I mean really clean, not just straighten up - after years of neglect. I have been throwing out junk and giving stuff to the veterans like crazy. It feels so good! My idea of heaven is having to eat extra food so I don't lose too much!! I still love to eat and like Flo I eat a little bit all the time. Margaret in St. Louis MGB 12/13/00 250 / 157 > Trish...You are EXACTLY right. Guest guest
a, There are other foods that through the years we have stayed away from (or at least I have) because of their " fattening nature " that aren't sweet --- full fat cheese (if you can tolerate the milk products), peanut butter, nuts, etc. All of these make good snacks and in a " diet " mentality you would normally stay away from. Hope you find the answer that works for you. Re: Tired of hearing, " you are too thin " Hi , I face the same thing. However, when I can afford it, I'm going to attack this problem differently. Guest guest
You know .... I am so programmed to pick low cal/ high nutritious foods it is so hard to think otherwise! I feel so guilty some times. I guess it's just going to take time and I thought I was really smart as food goes, but I'm finding out that I am rather dumb when it comes to good calorie foods. Yes, I try to eat some pbutter once and awhile but I can't tolerate it all the time so I have to find other foods. Now, let's talk diet foods and I can give all kinds of advice. I'm started feeling tired lately and have had alot of stress going on in my life. my mom is being diagnoised with Alzheimers and I really stressed. I haven't been hungry in 9 months though. Any suggestions will be helpful. I am a size 10 now and that really plays with my head. I still weigh 184 but I've never been this small. Guest guest
Hi , I am tired of hearing it also. I am 5'8 and weigh 145, compared to the 245 I weighed I am thin. I still wear 11/12. I think that because of the weight being all in the middle is why I get the reaction. I really want 5 more pounds gone. The tummy tuck would more than take care of those last 5. I have the same problem with food. I do like to use it as a comfort. A revision is totally out of the question for me, I would have the weight back on in a year. I like not being hungry all the time. I also have experienced a lot of pain in the hanging lower pelvic area in addition to the bile episodes. I am much better since the gallbladder removal. I am looking forward to meeting you and all these wonderful people. I especially cant wait to see the wonderful Dr. Rutledge again. I still have nothing to wear to the ball, I will go out wed. to look again. Have to get ready for work, till later. Overman 2/5/
Guest guest
, I only lost my appetite for a few weeks after surgery. It was close by and now I have it firmly back in my grip. I eat when I am hungry and whatever I want to eat. The amounts are much, much smaller. The more I eat, the more weight I lose. I know that my body will find " The Weight " and stop there. I am 5'5 " and weigh 179. My GYN doctor and her staff never had seen me smaller than 250 lbs. They freaked out and really gave me the third degree about " am I eating? " , " when will it stop? " , " what about reversing it? " . It will take time for them to get used to it. This was when I was 197 lbs!!! That tells me that they are working off of the picture in their minds they have of me from " before " and it is such a contrast to " now " that they feel alarmed. My take on the weight thing is when I get strangers who are shocked by my " thinness " , I will know that I have gone beyond thin. I also will go by the new doctor I have that did not know me as MO. She can really give me some feedback not based on her past perception of me. These people mean well, but think about the last time a friend dramatically changed their hair color (like from blond to black). It really shocked you and took a while for you to really tell that it was a good color for them (well, for me anyway). Also when we change our body images, it changes out roles and takes us out of the zone where other people felt comfortable with us. This is just because of the physical changes and they are sometimes threatened by the possibility that we will have some personality changes. I am sorry that you have experienced this to such an extent, but people do not usually react well to change and it may take a while for them to realize that you are just you, but smaller now. I tell people that the surgery is designed to stop when you reach the weight you need to be and you may gain and lose some pounds after that, but usually not to a great degree. They seem to accept this and get calmer. It really is their problem, if they are freaking about your weight loss. I just reassure the ones who are concerned and forget the jealous ones. Sorry it was so long, Good luck!! , " Out of the Zone " ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
A few people have said I was loosing to much and I just say " don't I wish> " When they ask how much more I want to loose I just say when my body is ready to stop I am ready. Truthfully I do need to loose more and I think they are just calculating how much they think I weighed to start with but I don't think it is any of there business and just drop it.
