Guest guest
Hi Margie, I had an EEG on my son too. I had my whole church praying for us that it would work out ok and that my son would be calm during the procedure. It was so amazing, my son was calm the whole time...(prayer really does help). His was done at a Rainbow office. I can't remember the location but it wasn't at the hospital. They had an expert EEG technician do the EEG. They had a little doll to show my son and they demonstrated for him how it would be done. I took my son's most favorite gfcf snack to help him feel calm. (banana chips) from Just Bananas..he absolutely loves them. They are freeze dried and no sugar or anything added. They are a light crunchy chip made from whole bananas. made like the regular banana chips. but they are so much tastier than regular banana chips. I got them at Mustard Seed.(Solon location.) Anyway, best wishes for your child's EEG, let me know the date and time and I'll pray for your daugher, for calmness and for a good reading. My son used to have petit mal seizures until I implemented the gfcf diet and started Cod Liver Oil daily. Thanks, n In a message dated 10/9/06 10:53:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time, margie.taylor2@... writes: Thank you for the reply...I called the EEG this a.m. and they informed me that they'll be using 24 electrodes...their summation of the procedure was that it would be cold, smelly and a lot of rubbing ...thanks again. Have a good day! They aren't painful. But she has a lot of hair and it took a couple of weeks for all the adhesive to come out. -----Original Message----- From: Marotta Sent: Oct 8, 2006 7:28 PM Subject: [ ] Re: need help finding a neurologist who has expertise with E.E.G. & autism I don't remember how many electrodes my son had (maybe 8?), BUT please have the social story include a smelly and cold-to-the-touch alcohol based cleanser for after the EEG to clean the adhesive used. That's the one part of the procedure that I was unaware of, what was missing from our social story, and what freaked my son out. The Clinic's Center for Autism uses him as well... my best to all and special thoughts to Diane and your child...6-months free from seizure activity,so very happy for you. > > BY the way does anyone know how many electrodes are placed on a small child's head? I'm going to write a social story to help prepare my daughter for the procedure and was just wondering...( I could call the EEG/neurology dept.). > > Take care all, > Margie > ----- Original Message ----- > From: bobdifaith > > Sent: Wednesday, October 04, 2006 10:11 AM > Subject: [ ] Re: need help finding a neurologist who has expertise with E.E.G. & autism > > > - > > My daughter sees Dr Kotagal at the Cleveland Clinic. Guest guest
and Margie, We didn't have to do sleep deprevation for Davey, they told us it wasn't necessary..I was glad about that! He even fell asleep during the session which they needed him to do..I'm telling you, it was a miracle...Maybe just get your daughter up a bit earlier that morning and that may help. (I think that's what I did). In a message dated 10/9/06 12:02:31 PM Eastern Daylight Time, egerpatt@... writes: Thank God we did not have to go through this EEG thing yet. I dread it.
