Thank you for ur support.

My mother also is not the most supportive parent in the world. My

son is high functioning, so to my mother, when he acts out or has a

melt down her answer always is sompthing like " OH I WOULDNT LET HIM

ACT LIKE THAT " , or " HE IS SPOILED, AND NEEDS MORE DISAPLINE " . It is

sooooo frustrating, I have printed out pages and pages of facts on

Autism, I have bought books and took them to her to read. She just

refuses to grasp the concept and the facts about Autism. She is

always bosting about how she dosnt know why I am always stressed

out, that she could handle my 2 kids for an ENTIRE weekend, mind you

my oldest has ADHD and is 14 and my lil one is 6 with Pddnos, and

takes meds for ADHD. SOOOOOOO we decided to take her up on her offer

for the weekend. About 3 weeks ago or so my hubby and I went to a

concert out of town and she watched the boys.

I wish you could have seen her when we got back Sunday morning...

(LOL) I walked in, and her hair was sticking straight up all messy,

and had a cup of coffee in her hand. She got up and walked over to

me and looked me straight in the eyes and said " Angie, I have a new

found respect for you " and handed me there over night bags and

walked us to the door. LOL I was so thankfull that she could now

finially see why im a bit frazzled during my days. The sad thing is

I dont think i'll have a weekend away again for a long long longggg

time.

> Hi, Angie! Welcome to the group! It sounds like you have gone

through quite a journey of discovery with your son. And I can tell

your son has benefitted from having a mom who relentlessly searched

for the clues til she found the right answer! Awesome! I think

we're lucky you joined us! ;-)

> My son will be 8 soon, and is in second grade. I have 2 nephews

on the autism spectrum, so I suspected at age 2 he had autism, or

autism-like tendencies. But it took my mom a year after the

diagnosis for her to accept the fact that he had autism. (Despite

her denial, she was very supportive.)
