How to join our Chats

Joining our chat is easy!

We use AOL and messengers. AIM is a chat room that we found very easy to use and has a quick response time. is also a good Messenger service.

If you don't already have AOL AIM or Messenger Just download AIM and install the software see link below for AIM help page for downloading instructions.

After you have downloaded and installed AIM/ or if you already had AIM. The next step is to send your "screen name" to ParentsChat Owner n. Because it is a private chat room I will need to send you an invite to get in. (No passwords need to be sent.) Note: For members of AOL, Walmart Connect and Compuserve, you can use your existing screen name.

Next you'll want to see our Chat Information page if you haven't seen it already. This gives info on our group and the time zone chart. We have people joining us from various states and are in different time zones.

For the Chat, After you sign on with your regular internet provider (MSN, sbcglobal, Altell, Juno, Compuserve, etc.,) you will then need to start your AIM, just click on sign on and it should start up. usually there will be a small icon on the lower right hand corner of the screen with a little yellow guy for AIM or a Y with a happy face for . double click on that icon to start it up.

Let me know if you have a problem with signing on. Please E-mail me and I'll help you to get signed on.

Typically when you're signed on, I will send an IM to you asking if you would like to join us for that evening, if you reply yes then I will send the invite for you to click on.

You will then enter our chat room and your screen name will appear saying that you have entered the room. Then we just introduce ourselves.

Our Chats have been going really great and we've shared recipes, tips on parenting and important information about autism and conferences and such. This is a good way to meet other parents and share experiences and information.

Basic Steps include:

1. Download AIM

2. Install AIM

3. Get a screen name/or use isp screen name if applicable.

4. You may either send your screen name to ParentsChat owner: n

or you may contact me by sending an IM to ParentsChat to let me know you would like to join our chat on that evening. I'll need to add your screen name so an invite to the chat can be sent to you. Write to me if you have any problems.
