For those of you who dont know me I'm Nick from Melbourne Australia. I'm currently 25 years of age and had 14 operations since the age of 6 on my ears. I come on this forum on and off all the time... Great group of people...In march I had a Mastodectomy/Ossicular Chain Recontruction/Myrangoplasty, the operation was a success and I gained a great deal of my hearing back. Tomorrow they are operating on my other ear and hopefully that would be the end of it.I just wanted to ask one quick question to you all. Last time they operated the cut the ear from behind and worked from there. My doctor tells me that this time they will go in from the canal as there is no need for a mastodectomy???? Does this mean the recovery will be less painful??? My doctor seems to think that it will be less complicated and faster healing than the last time due to the fact that there is no cuts etc......I look forward to your responses.Cheers and wish me luck for tomorrow, I'll be back on after my surgery....Aussiesnick78

Good luck, Nick. My son will be having surgery the 12th and hopefully they won't have to cut behind the ear. His doctor saids that the recovery time is much quicker when they don't have to cut behind the ear. We're hoping that is the case. Wow, 14 operations, that's a lot. Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

I think you mean allograft. " Allo- " means " other " , as in " from another

person " . Good luck. Sounds like you've had a lot of knee problems.
