Hello, Greg. You are having a common experience. The internal site of the surgery can be swollen for months, blocking the food. Also, my surgeon told me that as the body heals, it will try to bring the ring of muscle back together again. Both of these problems can be handled by having a dilatation procedure done. Usually 6 to 8 weeks after the surgery, in order for proper healing to occur. Cheer up, you are over the worst of it. I had my myotomy 3 months ago and things are going well.

Post surgery experience

Hi,I had a myotomy 5 days ago, and as with other people, I am surprised how sore I am. I am also a little disappointed (or maybe my expectations are too high)as the two solid meals that I have attempted to eat have come back up rather than gone down. I have only consumed soft meals so far, and am existing on meals blended to an almost soup consistency. Has anyone else experienced trouble eating in the short term after their operation, if so I would like to hear of your progression as time passes, as I am a bit concerned as to the success of the operation at this point in time, and would like to know of any other options if the myotomy has not been succesful. ( I would prefer not to have to go through it again.)Thanks in advance for any replies.Greg._________________________________________________________________________Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

--- Hey there, I know that feeling. I had my surgery Oct 1st and I

still have drainage in the morning from that ear. Somedays I have

that full feeling too and I dont know why. I do have a check up on

Wednesday and I plan on asking the doctor. Does it hurt you? If it

doesnt hurt, I wouldnt worry too much about it. Take care, CHarla
