Good morning Kathy - how many bones did your son lose from the c-toma? Were all the missing bone(s) replaced? My daughter had surgery just about 7 years ago - it was massive and she is practically deaf in the one ear. She lost all of her hearing bones and part of the inner ear drum.

She started kindergarten with the hearing aid and so on. Her surgeon didn't do reconstructive surgery immediately because she was so traumatized by all her surgeries, cat-scans etc. (4 at the time). She is now 11, in the throws of puberty with raging hormones so he has put it off for another year and a half. We are hoping the prosthesis will work for her as well - she would be having the surgery just before high school - would be grand for her self-esteem if it were successful versus starting high school with a hearing aid. Thanks.

Hi Guys!

I apologize! I accidently sent a post to this group instead of another group I belong to that is a support group for a rare skin defect that I have.

It is hard to believe that almost a year has gone by since my son had his surgery for the cholesteatoma. So far his prothesis seems to be doing fine. He hears practically everything I say to him.

Take care everybody,

Kathy
