Hey,

Try and wait until you see your doctor or talk to him. C-toma does not always show up that well on CT films. When my husband was diagnosed in his right ear, the surgeon did the surgery without a CT scan. From what I have read, about the only thing doctors can agree on about c-toma is the need for surgery. After that, things change. Some doctors this it is necessary to have a ct scan while others don't.

My suggestion would be to get a second opinion from an otologist if the diagnosis has changed when you see your doctor on Monday. Don't get me wrong, it would be great if you were misdiagnosed and do not have c-toma, but getting a second opinion would hopefully put the matter to rest once and for all.

I called my ENT's office the other day cause I know he has already recieved my CAT scan and I couldn't wait any longer to find something out (I have an appointment on Mon but am impatient). Well today someone from his office returned my call saying that the CAT scan looked absolutely normal and I don't need surgery. How can this be?? Unless he misdiagnosed me I don't understand how he can say that. He told me I have a c-toma in my right year a week and a half ago. Anyway, I asked her to have him call me to explain this but so far he hasn't called yet. Any thoughts? Both my old pediatrician and my oral surgeon have heard of this ENT and highly recommended him.

Best wishes that this is true, but I'd still double check with the doctor himself. Our daughter's cat scan was read by an inexperienced radiologist who said it didn't look like a cholesteatoma, so our pediatrician told us that it probably wasn't one, but our hopes were dashed when it was read by the otologist and he looked through his scope and could see the ctoma.tabitha smith <tonya4442000@...> wrote:

---Hey there, try not to worry to much until you speak with your dr.

C-toma's dont always show up on CT scans. Mine for instance, showed

up on the CT scan as a very small c-toma, but when I had my surgery

to remove it, the c-toma was quite large and took along time to

remove it all. Just be patient and wait until you talk to you dr.

Good luck, Charla

If your doc doesn't return your call, get a second opinion. C-tomas do NOT always show up on a CT scan.

Good luck and hoping your good news is correct,
