hello michelle, It has been a while since I have posted. but I to had loss of my tastebuds, because of the surgery, the doctor cut them to get to the c-toma, anyways you will get them back. It takes about 8mths or so and things will taste rubbery and bland although I could taste milk and eggs, dairy stuff etc.. the rest just chewing and body fuel is what i got out of it....but it will come back.

Good luck

Juli

This is interesting, because Curtis really craves extreme flavors. Really sweet, or really salty, and he likes spicy stuff. Do these extreme flavors help overcome the taste problems stemming from the damaged nerve? Or is this just Curtis' personal preference? He always had a sweet tooth, etc... but it does seem more pronounced since his surgeries.

Thank you,

Marie

Hi

You must have had a serious surgery. Did you really lose your taste if you did,

you do know that the have damaged (or had to cut it of) your taste nerve. And

that letting you know that your taste should come back is only due to that the

other taste nerve in your other ear is complete and functioning, as I have read.

It could of course always mean that your damaged tastenerve should start to

work. I had an Organic chemistry teacher this year who had gotten his

facialnerve damaged. Then I asked him: How did this happened was it due to a

surgery where they had to cut it.

- No it was due to an ear infection.

I found that very strange and he continued to tell me that he some times lost

his movement when getting a cold and after being free from it he got his

movement back on his one side of his face.

So I guess after all there can always some chance of getting a sensation back in

a nerve that has been damaged but it most bee very unusual. But it's not the

case with taste since you can get your taste back as long as one of the taste

nerves works. The other taste nerve which works will compensate for the other.

Regards

Hi ,

From my recent surgery Jan 9th my taste buds till aren't back 100%. The

first major surgery it took a few months to come back fully (at least for

me, every one varies).
