This year’s Disability Summit will highlight the impact parent leadership development has made on disability policy. With the alignment of No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 there is now a new focus on “raising expectations for students with disabilitiesâ€. Research shows when parents are involved in their children’s education, students succeed.

Ms. Swenson will speak as a parent, a teacher and a leader in the disability community. She knows the importance of relationships, partnerships and coalition building. She has earned her place at the table and she wants to encourage other parents and individuals with disabilities that it is never too late to have high expectations!
