Guest guest
Marcia, what medications are you currently taking right now? I'm currently hyperthyroid and my next step is to have the iodine treatment done.
Guest guest
Tammy -

All I am taking right now is the eltroxin (levothyroxine sodium) for my under-active thyroid. When my dose was upped was when I went hyper.

Homeopathically, I am taking Prunus Amygdalus (almond root) in liquid form, 25-30 drops two to three times daily. I have a hyperthyroid friend who did not want to undergo the destruction of her thyroid gland. She too is taking Prunus Amygdalus and feels it has been helpful in lessening her symptoms, especially her problems with heart palpitations. She doesn't ask for her numbers tho, so I don't know if they have improved!

The homeopath we both see has told me that hyperthyroidism is easier to treat (homeopathically) than hypothyroidism. I don't know why that is.

Hope that answers your question

Marcia
Guest guest
Sometimes compounding pharmacies have it in stock. But most order it online: www.breastcancerchoices.org 12.5 mgs only www.illnessisoptional.com 12.5 mgs and 50 mgs www.vrp.com 12.5 mgs and 50 mgs I would increase your Armour by 1/4 - 1/2 grain and hold for 1-2 weeks and then increase again as needed. Let your body get used to the increased T3 (adrenals too). The iodine may reduce your need for more armour. advice, please I just talked with my naturopath who has agreed to increase my armour by onegrain. I am now taking 3 grains - should I go up the whole grain all atonce, or gradually? Also, I am going to be starting iodine - have to order it - how might thatimpact the armour increase - should I do them both at the same time?Is there a retail store or pharmacy that carries iodoral, or does it have tobe ordered?SC
Guest guest
That’s good to know; we have a compounding pharmacy nearby – I learned about compounding pharmacies when our dog was ill and required compounded meds! Do I have it correct that when taking iodine one should also take C and do Celtic sea salt? How that that go together? Guest guest
Yes you take both. 2,000 - 3,000 mgs Vit C and 1/2 tsp of Celtic salt. No special formula or time. Guest guest
I'm taking salt/c and iodine. It is sounding like I should not take them at the same time (well, the vitamin c and iodine anyway.) Can anyone tell me how many hours apart I should take them? I've put iodine drops in grapefruit and watched, fascinated, as it disappears too! > > Thanks, Steph. > > > > SC > > > > _____ > > From: iodine [mailto:iodine ] On Behalf Of > ladybugsandbees > Sent: Tuesday, November 25, 2008 11:37 AM > iodine > Subject: Re: advice, please > > > > Yes you take both. 2,000 - 3,000 mgs Vit C and 1/2 tsp of Celtic salt. Guest guest
As iodine is an oxidizer, and vitamin C is an anti-oxidant, they should not be taken together. The oxidizing properties of iodine are what make it effective, especially against cancer (fungi in general). > > I'm taking salt/c and iodine. Guest guest
It is advisable to take oxidants (such as iodine or MMS) more than 4 hours apart from antioxidants (such as vitamin E or C). > > I'm taking salt/c and iodine. Guest guest
But there has been no scientific data to support this. I have taken the two together for almost 3 years and have had no issues. Dr. Brownstein does the same. Please post info if you have it on this. Guest guest
I should have said there is no scientific data that iodine and Vit C should not be taken together. Guest guest
However, since vitamin C reduces iodine to iodide, less iodine is available for antiseptic/antibacterial/antifungal action (iodide has none of those properties). Of course it doesn't " hurt " to take the two together; they just work against each other, making the net result less effective. > > > > I'm taking salt/c and iodine. Guest guest
, what is MMS? Oxidants - are they fat soluble vitamins? Thanks.
Guest guest
Steph, glad that doctor Brownstein puts iodine and vitamin C together because that's how I give it to my kids - in juice otherwise they wouldn't get any so that makes me feel better. There's no way they would be able to drink it any other way. Interestingly enough, yesterday I separated the two out and took my vitamin C at night. My grumpy tummy (which has been fine if I take my iodine with the juice) thankfully only lasted about half an hour. I don't know if it was co-incidence or not (maybe/likely) but I've had a continual ache in my left breast which hadn't gone until yesterday for the first time - so it feels like my body responded positively to the seperation. So for now I'll continue to seperate the two but I have no evidence....actually no, on thinking about it, I think you're asking
Guest guest
Hi Grant and Tara You are best to look up oxidants for a good explination of them. MMS is a chloride type product that many don't trust and I have heard many negatives and so I would say be very careful if you try it. There are many claims about it but few that can be traced as far as I have heard. I wish I could say something positive but don't have any to report. Guest guest
Hi, I don't often post here, but need to ask if anyone has shared my experience. it is a long story; the short version is that last Sept. I had my hip joint removed to try to control the infection which started after a dislocated hip in Aug 2008. That THR was a revision from a BHR because of metal allergy. Unfortunately even after removing the hip joint the infection could not be controlled. On 13 March 2009 I had my 7th op since last July, to try to clean it out again. It appears to have succeeded. The wound has healed and the joint space feels good. But I have a large red swollen itchy/sore area around the wound and extending down my thigh. It started when I had my clips out at 14 days (a povidone iodine dressing was applied as there was a very little weeping at one spot). My GP doesn't know what it is. Nor does the consultant who is just putting it down to the fact that there is a lot of healing going on there, and is saying that the wound is good. In fact he is saying that when my inflammatory makers return to normal, which could be in a few weeks, he will be reinserting the hip. So, has anyone experienced anything like this? It is bad enough having a sore itchy leg without the uncertainty of not knowing what is going on and how it will affect the next op. I have been in a wheelchair since Sept. and would really like to walk again! Thanks in advance. UK
