What is your favorite cough and cold remedy?

I do not need a cold remedy, as I have a tried and true one I have used for 11

or 12 years without fail.  But I am interested in the fruit juice suggestion.

Where do you get your juice that it is live?  Freshly juiced fruit cannot

retain

nutrition for more than three days.  Do you grow elderberries and juice your

own?

Subject: what is your favorite cough and cold remedy?

Hi Everybody,

I have been sick for about a week now. I woke up this morning and my eyes were

practically glued shut. I have never experienced that before. I applied a warm

compress to clean the goo and wonder what else I could do. My left eyelid is

very puffy and both eyes are red, so I guess that means I have conjunctivitis.

My most annoying symptom has been a dry cough. And of course I have the usual

nose blowing that comes with a cold.

So I am wondering what remedies you use for these ailments? Any suggestions are

greatly appreciated. I couldn't do oil pulling effectively because of the cough.

Cheers,

Sherry

For the eyes I would make a Boric Acid solution with warm water and Boric Acid

powder (maybe 1t BA to 1 qt. H2O or so) and keep it in a clean glass jar or

bottle. Several time a day, pour the solution from the bottle onto 2 separate

cotton balls or make-up remover pads (to prevent contamination of the solution

in the bottle) and bathe each eye with a separate cotton ball. Should fix you

up in no time!

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi Sherry!

I do not ever have an issue with colds, flu's, virus's, and rarely a problem

with sore throats, and I account that to me taking a healthy dose of Vitamin

D3. Many people are deficient in D3, especially in the winter time. I myself

take 20,000 IU's a day of the stuff. D3 can be bought at Wal-Mart for about

5 bucks a bottle, and they do come in 5000 IU strength

Hope you get to feeling better!!

At the onset of cold or cough, i take vco and moringa oleifera tea from its

powderized leaves. In half an hour runny nose/cold/cough subsides. Sometimes

when i am not home and they start, i take colloidal silver (homemade) which i

carry in a little bottle at all times in my bag as well as in a sprayer..

My favourite cough/cold remedy almost never fails, but it's not for the

faint of heart.

1) Put on some lip balm.

2) Pour an 8 oz glass of tomato or vegetable juice

3) Add about a teaspoon of tabasco sauce - more if you're gutsy.

4) Take a mouthful and feel the soothing warmth on your throat.

5) Enjoy!

6) Repeat as necessary.

Note: Adding vodka doesn't hurt.

Do you add a celery stick, too? :-)

I'm astounded that people can take that much. I take 3000 per day. I have

found if I go up to 4000 per day I get discomfort in my lower legs at night.

Any idea what the cause of that would be?

Interesting reaction to D3. I commonly take 5-10,000 iu during

winter and Alobar reports that he takes more. When anyone in my

family gets a cold or cold onset, I have them take 40-50,000 iu.

I have never had or heard of a single negative reaction and have

no clue as to what is causing yours.Interestingly, your reaction

sounds like what occurred in the insane asylum in the '3o's when

the inmates were taking 120,000 iu/day. Certainly, 30x dose would

make a huge difference... but then we are all different.

My question to the group: Has anyone else here experienced a negative

effect from D-3? I'd be interested in hearing.

Jim

I have known several people with negative reactions. All were taking

gelcaps. I suspected the oil in the gelcaps had gone rancid. In each

case, when they swithed over to Carlson's cod liver oil of Ddrops, the

negative reaction went away.

A lot of us don't believe in cleansing as a separate step, as toxin removal is

an ongoing process anyway. I've never recommended it myself, and it seems not

taking on cleansing as a separate step has not negatively affected peoples'

health programs. Cleansing indeed may imply a withholding of nutrient as in

fasting, and I don't support fasting.

I use Oil Of Oregano capsules at the first sign of a cold or if I have been

exposed and Kold Kare, or if I can find just the herb in Kold Kare I get

that - OOO is a very powerful tool to use.

It took me a while but I finally found a page about this (D toxicity):

http://smokinchoices.wordpress.com/2010/08/31/gary-null-vit-d-toxicity/

Dr. Null accidentally overdosed because the company that

manufactured his 'Ultimate Power Meal' product messed up, and instead of

2,000iu/serving, it contained 2,000,000iu/serving - yes, two MILLION iu

PER SERVING...

He gulped this down every day for an entire month, getting sicker each

day, and yet - even with such massive overdosing, he survived and is

alive and well, although he said it took him 3 months to get the excess

D out of his system.

Many of the studies studies used similar - up to 1,000,000/day

Virtually all of the toxicity reports were from the use of D2. D3 simply

does not suffer the same problems...

I'll bet you never got to use it long enough to get experience with it. The

glory of it for me was that I started fighting off sicknesses like this pretty

much right at the start of learning about it and starting to use it. Someone

else in my life helped me to figure it out and once I put my finger print on my

usage and saw it work, my confidence started to build.

A few years after that, I felt it was time I poured 35% food grade on my hand

straight to see what it would do. It burns, but it is a different kind of burn.

It is not like fire, or a burn from the oven, or steam or like battery acid. It

will not leave a bruise or a scar, and it will not burn for hours and hurt for

days. It simply turns the skin white and it feels a little burny, but it will go

away within a short time, depending on how much you spilled on yourself. Then

it will disappear and there is no indication of anything happening at that

site. But to get it to stop burning sooner, you can put your hand in water and

rub to get the water into the skin where the peroxide is, thereby diluting it.

It is wonderful stuff. I've been using it for about 12 years. I never imagined I

would have a product stick with me that long, but this sure has stood the test

of time for me. I think my Sonicare toothbrush will rate second, but I have only

had that maybe 5 yrs. But that is a keeper, too.

I've used straight 35% H2O2 on plantar warts, and it works great. Just soak the

foot in the hottest water you can stand to soften up the wart, then cut away as

much dead skin as you can with cuticle scissors, razor, etc. Then apply the

peroxide to the wart. If you've cut away enough dead tissue, the peroxide will

sting. Repeat as needed, with a day or two between treatments. Two treatments

works for me, and it's a fraction the discomfort of having a doctor burn it off.

For safe handling, I always keep a small amount of 35% peroxide in a tiny

bottle, refilling as needed from the larger bottle. That way, I handle large

amounts of it less often, and there's less chance of it becoming contaminated.

Also, I keep the larger bottle in the deep freeze for good long term

preservation; that bottle has gotta be about ten years old, and it's still

liquid at freezing temps and still caustic.

My mix is very simple. If you know and are well versed in peroxide, you know it

is very forgiving and not a real exact science. So a dose for me was always just

about 1/8 or 1/4 tsp into 4 oz of water or juice or tea. I never even used

distilled water and it has always worked without that. Drink this on an empty

stomach and if you caught your symtoms in time, they will be gone in 15 minutes.

I never even timed myself after I got onto this. So if I was not feeling better

in ten or so minutes, I would dose again. The times I would need to dose more

than once would be when I would wake up in the morning and be sick. Then I would

not know how long the symptoms were brewing in me. But this has happened to me

only three times and the outcome was identical all three times. I would have to

dose three times in say, 30 mins, because I knew peroxide worked and I did not

want to let this sickness get hold of me. So I dosed quick. Each of the three

times, after the third dose, I would lay down to keep my body quiet and let the

peroxide sizzle. Soon I would have to run, because that peroxide would sizzle

back up into my throat. But once I threw it up, within minutes, I was clear!

:o) It happened just like that each time.

LOL

Thanks for the funny! I'm glad you think of it as teasing!

I just tread lightly because peroxide is so " controversial " for some. So I test

the waters and see what bites! :o)

I did just answer one right before yours, so that will have my regimen. But

look below and I will answer you as you asked a couple more questions.

Yes, take it orally.

How much do you weigh?

I am 5'4 " and weigh 110, but I do not think the dosage would change for a

different size unless maybe for a child. For instance, if I had a child, I

would try 1/8 tsp peroxide in 8 or 10 oz of water to start out at, and give the

child sips at a time out of that big glass. As an adult, just experiment on

yourself at the ratios I use and then adjust it if you think you need more or

less.

How much time before you feel the effects? Peroxide will empty out of an empty

stomach in 15 minutes. You should feel the symptoms fade within that times.

On an empty or fulll stomach? Keep your stomach empty. That way the peroxide

does not have to fight off any bacteria in the food you might have in your

stomach.

Please inform. My pleasure.

Thank you,

-richard-

Good for you, ! I have heard the same from other sources, too. Boy, I wish

I had known this 35 years ago instead of just 12. I grew up on a farm, and as I

am sure you can imagine, playing in farm poop put warts on my hands and all my

mom knew to do was take me to the doctor and have them burned off. There's a

memory I will never forget. Ouch. The good thing that happened back then was,

when he removed the biggest ones (those were the ones I wanted off first) the

rest disappeared, too. So I did not have to go back.

I like your storage idea, too. Tell me: Is your smaller bottle all solid that

won't let in light?

I keep it in a tiny jar that had contained Dr. Hauschka lip balm:

It's white translucent glass. I like both the small size and the relatively wide

opening (no funnel needed). Needless to say, I had to clean the jar extremely

well before using it with peroxide.

Now that's something I never thought of using. When I ordered my last bottle of

peroxide, I ordered for two other people, too. When my order came, what they

sent me was a gallon jug. I had ordered two pints and a quart. So they corrected

the order and sent me two pints and let me keep the gallon. I have been

transferring from that gallon jug into small dropper bottles, but I am sure you

know I have to be very careful, even with a funnel. Peroxide will bleach your

counter, unless maybe it is granite. Mine is worn out formica.
