Guest guest
monique, as much as you would love to not see this type of news, it's the very reason for the existence of the guiness book of world records. the biggest, the smallest, the most, the least, the tallest, the fattest, the thinnest-- all are curiousities in the human world, and because we are more curious than the proverbial cat, will always be the subject of scrutiny by other humans -- who are either glad it isn't them, or wish it was. why else would we report the youngest person in the world to need dentures [ -Ruiz (UK) was given a full set of dentures on 25 February 2005 at the age of 3 years and 301 days due to a condition called Hypohydrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia.] i'm sure we also are fascinated by eating records such as : Ken of Glossop, Derbyshire, England ate 36 cockroaches in one minute on the set of The Big Breakfast, London, England on March 5, 2001. Ken is a retired ratcatcher and part-time entertainer who first took to the stage at age 18, but his talent for carrying out bizarre stage acts was unveiled on the British TV show Over The Top when he was 39. Ken's 47 rats-down-the-trouser trick caused such a stir that he became a celebrity overnight! His friends and family are now used to his freaky acts and Ken says, " If I were to actually do something normal then they would react! " WANT TO KNOW MORE? When Ken munches on his cockroaches, he says " It's like having an anesthetic at the back of the throat. " This is due to the scent they let off to ward off predators! Tasty! CHECK THIS OUT... It's a lady who is about 2'8 with OI and had her second child. The first child has OI and the new born does not. To be honest I really have a lot of mixed feelings on this. I wish her the best of luck, but why does this have to make news, or really some tacky headline? It's not everyday someone that short has a child, but personally I find the whole thing degrading. I remember this happened a year or two ago and the postings on the news blogs were so harsh about the mom criticising her for having children. It is no one's business if someone has a child or not and people don't need a peanut gallery after the fact by people that don't know the whole story. I just can't wait for the day when we are not news stories anymore, the degrading jobs will stop, the comments and stares will stop. It's like those stupid cliches " we have BIG hearts " and all that other crap. I'd love for all of us to be treated equally in societies eyes, no better no worse, just treat me like any other stranger walking down the street. One can dream I guess. - __________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile.
