Guest guest
Banning Poker, I think is an excellent idea! Why stop at poker? I think personally it needs to extend to War and Go Fish, all cards should be confiscated. I think we should also ban lps at a conference from eating junk food because it contributes to the lp weight problem and what an image that would be! So we have alcohol banned for everyone, poker banned for everyone, ugh oh you know what that means! NO SEX, I think sex should also be banned as well. Heck no dances either since they contribute to all of that. Alrighty so do you see how rediculous all of this is???? Underage drinking is one thing but please people the way some of you are going, you are going to turn this into a dictatorship. Give it a rest! -
Guest guest
How about prohibiting F-U-N at all costs? Being an LP is serious business and all attempts at having a good time by ANYONE should be stopped at the registration desk! Ultimately it comes down to personal choices one makes. If kids are taught well at home they MAY and WILL experiment (just like we as parents and grandparents did when we were young..... Maybe that is what scares us when we think of what they might do; our memories! lol) but they will make good choices overall. No matter how anyone tries to pass the buck on this or point fingers about lack of supervision or rules or too many temptations at a conference for the youth it ultimately is a parental duty to have raised, to teen years and beyond responsible kids who can be trusted or not outside their parental control. Obviously there are rues at the convention as well as in society AND consequences for breaking rules. The rules which are already in place by both are sufficient and the consequences should be enforced with out prejudice and equally.... If you do the crime you do the time! In the USA and most organizations, if people do not like either set of regulations there are means by which they can be amended or changed through proper channels. ph 's statement of " I teach proper principles and let the people govern themselves " makes a lot of sense to me and worked for my kids....well for the most part and when it didn't get the desired results they had to face up to the results of their choices. Occassionally " good kids " get caught up in the moment of the conference ...of the crowd/peer pressure etc. So that if they and their parents reflect on the situation and make some " atonement " than all may be forgotten... Many of us have been there... done that and realized we " messed up. " Marge > > > > === >
Guest guest
I agree. The best position for LPA is to have the hotels card anybody who looks young-and that can be someone who could be 30, or card everybody for the Hotel's liability. If those who are underage want alcohol, they're going to find a means outside the hotel whether the hotel is carding or not. I've been there done that. In those circumstances when they're caught, I agree that tough love should be pushed upon them. If they're younger than 18, tell the parents, get the parents involved. If they're between 18 and 21, then call the police and either pursue public intoxication charges, underage drinking charges, or let the police perform a little tough love by not necessarily charging, but scaring the hell out of them. Or perform tough love by other means. I don't think we should ban or suspend on the basis of drinking, until the person makes an idiot out of themselves by inflicting harm to property or others. Kids are going to be kids, let them learn a little self responsibility.
