Hi Everyone,

I am on Pulmicort Turbuhaler (budesonide) as my ICS and have

been for a little over 2 years. Before that I was on Advair, and my

pulmo at the time kept changing the dose of the Advair because I

wasn't responding appropriately. Turns out I was having trouble with

the bronchodilator part of the Advair, so Advair was giving me more

frequent asthma attacks, and now that my current pulmo switched me

from Advair to Foradil (a bronchodilator)and Pulmicort and then he

eventually took me off Foradil I am so much better. Xolair has gotten

me to the point where my pulmo can and is reducing my oral Prednisone

dose, but we have yet to go near the Pulmicort yet because I am doing

so well at this point that my pulmo doesn't want to 'pull the rug

out' from under the success we're having.

I know that many people are on Advair, but I was wondering if

anyone else is on Pulmicort. When I got my prescription refilled for

Pulmicort Turbuhaler last week, the pharmacist said that the

manufacturer discontinued it. This current Turbuhaler was the last

one this pharmacist had and I would need to speak with my pulmo to

get a new prescription for Pulmicort Flexhaler. Now the Pulmicort

Turbuhaler I'm on is 200mcg per dose, and I do 3 puffs twice a day

which totals 1,200mcg/day. The Pulmicort Flexhaler is the same

medicine (budesonide) but comes in a 90mcg inhaler and a 180mcg

inhaler. My pulmo is over an hour and a half away from my house, and

I don't have another appointment to see him until the end of July, so

when I called his office this Tuesday his secretary said she'd have

my pulmo decide what dose he wants me on, have him write a new

prescription and then she'd mail it to me. I should probably receive

the prescription today or tomorrow but I know my pulmo will end up

raising or lowering my overall dose I'm just curious whether other

patients on Pulmicort have raised or lowered their dose.

Thanks,

Meagan
