Hi Sue,

You know its been two years since my Knee replacement and five years since my Hip replacement I think I waited over a month I had a very long cut I read it was suppose to be 18 to 20 staples and I had 38 staples . I was told to use Vaseline Intensive care with Vitamin E and Mineral. I can't say how long I was on the blood thinner I don't remember getting headaches . What is a INR number?

Well I hope your feeling better.

Regards

Susie

Hi AllHow long before you all used some sort of cream on your scars? Also, what type did you find to be the best? My 3 week old 8 inch long scar is looking a little dry and scaley. After 4 replacements, I can not remember when I was allowed to moisturize this scar. Also how long were you on a blood thinner? Did anyone experience headaches? Do you remember your INR number?I know, ask the doc. But you all have experience!Sue

Hi Sue and All,

It's almost 5 weeks for me and I haven't used any moisturizer on my

scar. I'm going to ask my doc about it because my scar is dry and

scaly. I'm a little anxious because I still have a little scabbing on

my left incision. I also had at least 40 staples on that leg. They

were placed one after another with hardly any space inbetween.

I'm not on coumadin. I'm taking aspirin as a blood thinner. I don't

have headaches, but my knees feel still feel very stiff, even though

I can stretch my leg out to 0 and have 125 flexation. Two days ago I

was really stupid because I felt good. I walked up and down the steps

at least 6 times and walked two city blocks 2 time. URGH! I still

feel it.

Hi

I found that the skin around my scar was dry, scaly and itchy after

the staples has been removed after about 10 days. I had to keep

sterile strips over the scar for a futher few days, but after that I

used vitamin E cream, and it worked really well. I am now at 5

months post op and my scar has flattened and is fading quite well.

Hello Lesley,

Thanks for the tip. I'll look for vitamin E cream tomorrow. Do you

still have pain?
