I am now scheduled to have both knees replaced on Jan. 9, and I am pretty nervous about it." Hi Bill I'm happy for you that you have a date for your double knee replacement. Now there's the wait! I've been waiting 6 weeks now and have 3 to go and it is not easy being patient! I'm sure you will be back on the golf course in time for Spring 2007. Guest guest
P.S: Bill, as I mentioned previously, my friend had both knees replaced earlier this year and then a hip 2 months ago, and she is getting around more quickly now than I have EVER seen her! Guest guest
I'm so glad you didn't leave. I know you'll get the support you need here. Boy am I glad I postponed my TKR -- after the posting yesterday on the importance of taking home a CPM machine -- my doc wasn't going to have me do this. Recently I went to a different OS's office -- a local one (the OS who had been going to do the surgery is in Seattle because I could never find anyone locally who didn't think I was insane for thinking about getting a TKR when I "only" have chondromalacia and disintegrating menisci). Anyways, I went to this clinic here to get Synvisc shots because they helped some before, and now that I'm on an exercise program (supposedly -- having too many appts lately to keep it up). I only saw the P.A. but I (not to gush) loved him. And he said he thought it was insane not to get a TKR if you have my situation. So there you are. Depends on who you talk to. I'm going to try to get up the nerve to ask him if I can watch some knee surgeries, since I'm interested in medical things. Not sure they let civilians in, but what percentage of the public would want to see all the gore -- probably not a great demand for it. Anyway, welcome, uh, for staying. Ann S. Guest guest
Ann who did you find? I think you are wise to choose other than the Seattle doctor. I know who that one was. He doesn't have good bedside manner that is for sure. Guest guest
We're talking about Dr. Toomey? Jr.? I kinda liked him. After the initial "I am God" thing, he warmed up to me. I think he liked my persistence, although at my last visit, where I cancelled, he was clearly pissed off, barely holding it in. I don't now about his actual bedside manner after surgery. Ann S. Guest guest
Well, the new local is a guy named Dennis , but I never met him. Just his P.A., Rob. So I don't know anything about Dennis or his success rate. He doesn't use the rotating platform knee, which is what I'd want (I forget what brand Rob said he uses). Unless the one he uses gives great ROM. Need to talk with Rob more about it. Ann S. RE: BTKR for me - Bill "Hello everyone, I decided to stay with the group, and I am glad I did.
