Hi Ben,

After I had my Knee replacement which was on my right side they did the same test you had it was right after my operation my right leg swell up they said that as far as they could tell I was ok I was in a nusring home and they took me to a hopital for the test then when I got back to the nursing home the dr had the nurse give me these blood thinner shots which I told my regular dr and he got mad and made them stop giving me these blood thiner shots this happen two years ago when I got home I took pills for blood thinner and put my leg up its swells up if I do too much .

That test they did on me was painful at the time did it hurt you? Take care :-)

Right leg is swelling big time. Now get off leg twice per day for about two hours. Had sonic test and viens are clear. Has anyone had swelling after the surgery? How long did it last? What did you do for it?ben

How long post op are you? I had LTHR 17.1.04, and my leg swelled

from knee to thigh in the days following the op and gradually went

down over the next week or so, but there the area around the scar

slatyed slightly swollen for a couple of months. Now at around 5

months post op, it's back to normal, but a slightly different shape

than it orginally was were the scar had caused a slight " dent " .

Ben,

Had swelling for the first two weeks post-op. Seemed the more I walked on it the more it was swollen. The swelling would go down during the night and come back during the day. It helped to keep the leg raised. After the second week the swell never occurred.

I had my THR in Dec. 04, the swelling was pretty bad for about 3 months ,I had to wear the TED's most of the time to control it, so I got a pair of knee high ted's .Gradually it eased up to were only my ankles swelled, its now june and I think its finally stopped.

P.S. My Dr. Told me I could expect swelling for up to 6 monthsFitzGerald & <fitzkelly@...> wrote:
