Hi from Houston. I just have been a lurker for the past couple

months. But now I have a question I haven't seen anything lately

posted about compression stockings. I had my THR Oct. 25th.

Everything is going great, thanks to you all and my doctor! I am

still getting around with a cane, but I can feel the muscles getting

stronger. I started back to work last week, 7th week, I have a desk

job and only doing 4 to 6 hours a day. I get a little tired and my

leg feels swollen by lunch time. I don't have to wear my compression

stockings anymore, but I think my leg feels better if I do, is it ok

to keep wearing one on the operated leg? Do they make black ones? I

look like I forgot what socks match.

I am also in Houston and had my THR on August 10th. Who was your Doctor?

I am doing really well. Gets better month by month.

I would think the extra support would be a good thing. I can't imagine why

there would be a problem wearing one. it would just be like wearing

support hose.

lee,

Thanks for the reply about the stocking. Dr. Cuellar did my THR.

The group he is with is on the north side of Houston.

Here I am. This is what my foot specialist taught me last week. I have venous weakness in my lower legs. I have never been able to stand the pressure hose, not even the ones that were measured for and built for my body. I cannot keep the long ones up, and the short ones cut into my leg something awful. Well, the right ones have been invented now. The brand name is VENOTRAIN. You can buy them from your podiatrist or I found them online at http://healthylegs.com/

click on Bauerfiend.

He told me that they now have a new size that is called "EXTRA". What that means is that they have made them for people like me who have narrow ankles and large calves. I am delighted with my knee-hi's and am able to wear them all day, every day. I could see a difference in 24 hours. He also told me to take care that there is not a wrinkle, because it would feel like a burn on my skin.

This is what is on the label in my knee-hi:

VENOTRAIN

EXPLORER

AD EXTRA XL

20-30 mmHg

Compression knee-hi black

If you go to www.venotrain you get other links. I saw there is one that has a fitting expert. You might want to see about that.

They are ten dollars cheaper online than I paid, $64.00. Not that much difference if you add in postage. Having an expert fit you would be of great benefit.

I hope I have helped any of you who need this information.
