Guest guest
I am now 11 weeks post right total hip. I'm a 56 year old male. I hurt more the day before surgery than the day after. I was back to work three weeks post op and never felt better. I guess I was very very lucky and I'm very happy about it. Both and Tim, who are apparently young men, have experienced a lot of pain after surgery. I realize this is just two people but is it a coincidence? Anybody know. It seems the older you are, the easier the recovery. Vera

Younger people have tighter muscles. Older people have flabby muscles (no offense intended <smile>). They have to separate the muscles to get to the bone. It's harder with the tighter muscles. My husband is 56, has worked out every day for years, and the pain is awful and he is frustrated. Charlotte in Iowa
Guest guest
I am 72 and had my THR 10 months ago. I think we probably don't want to climb mountains and run marathons. I believe you can push things too far too fast. Just take it easy and do as your dr. tells you and I don't think you'll have as much pain. Just be thankful you can walk without pain.
