Guest guest
I am a 61-year-old female and had RTHR Sept 2002 and dislocated Jan 2003. Dislocated again end of April 2003. My doctor said protocol was not to do revision surgery until after a third dislocation unless x- ray shows a reason. I had a revision to tilt the poly liner May 2003. I know exactly what you mean by terror and being afraid of your hip. I was a real basket case for months after my dislocations. It has been a year and I am no longer terrified and am living a normal life. Normalcy returned when I passed the milestone of four months without a dislocation, longer than I had ever gone. I am still cautious after one year and follow my doctors advise to the letter. On my last visit, I got into positions I was concerned about so that he could ease my fears. I can touch my toes now by putting the foot of my operated leg against my other knee - this forms a triangle with the knee on the operated side pointing outward. I bike, swim, garden (while carfully watching my body position). My friend's mother dislocated ten years ago and has been OK with golfing 3X a week along with all other " normal " activities. SHE THINKS OF HER THR AS A WONDERFUL GIFT THAT HAS GIVEN HER BACK HER LIFE. You will regain your confidence as we have. The worst part is the fearful period you are going through now. Guest guest
Hi, I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with dislocation. I am curious however since I have a great desire to be very active after my healing process is over (I am only 2 1/2 weeks post-op, & am 36 yrs old). Did you dislocate during normal activities or doing a specific move that you could share? Thanks, . > I am a 61-year-old female and had RTHR Sept 2002 and dislocated Jan > 2003.
