Guest guest
LOL - no just teasing. I had the epidural when they did both my hips at once in October. I don't remember anything until after coming out of the OR. I must say that this operation is the best thing ever and would do them both at once again without thinking twice about it. Plastic bags to slide in and out of the car does help. A " grabber " or reacher for when things fall out of your reach is helpful - never did like the sock putter on thing-a-ma-jig. Helpful spouses are good for that and a pedicure prior is also maybe something to think about. ANd keep your sense of humour - every day is a better day - once the operation is done the worst is over in my opinion. The rest is gravy getting one's quality of life back. Take care - good luck in your surgery. Guest guest
Danny, The other reason I was that awake during surgery is I am a med student, and will be going for Orthopedic surgeon. I guess I could say I was my own guinea pig =). Other then the IV’s bugging my arms the only thing, thinking of the blood clots are the injections that they issued to me post op to avoid the clots, I looked like I got hit with 90 bees around my abdomen. My doc strongly suggested I have an epidural with a cocktail because of the reduced chances of a blood clot. Im not too interested in being that awake, but will follow his advice. 15 days to go.
