Hi, . I'm sorry about your shoulder. I don't know if I missed

something -- did you actually go to the surgeon today? what did he say?

I know you posted several other emails and I am so behind that I have read

today's emails but not most of the past few days. So if you already

explained this, forgive me. I was just concerned about you when I read about

your shoulder.

Be well,

Hi ,

Before I had my shoulder replacements done, I had much

pain in my back..it was caused from the bad shoulder. The

area of the back where my pain was..was about where there

would be a " wing. " Nope ..no wings, but that's the area that

was giving me almost as much grief sometimes as the shoulder

itself.

Where in your back is the pain?? Was it the spine area?? or

the area I mentioned.

Subject: Surgeon appt

Hello everyone,

The one thing I was trying to avoid for at least a year. But the way

it is looking now it's not going to happen. My left shoulder has been

a problem again lately. I have noticed I have lost probably another

30 degree's of flexion out of that shoulder, now it just goes to 90

and sometimes not even that high. Between my shoulder and my back i

am not getting much sleep. Not even on the ms-contin. the ms-contin

so far doesn't even come close to giving me the relief as the

oxycotin did. Plus it only last a couple of hours to the max that I

have noticed so far. well I got to go my back is hurting to bad

again. take care all

Tricia,

I have had back problems for many years. To this day they still don't

know what is cauing the pain in my back. I might have to go see my

other surgeon. I have three different surgeons that I see. They might

have to look into it again to see if anything is showing that was

showing over a year ago when I had the MRI done on it. My back pain

is now from the mid part of my back all the way down. The other pain

your talking about I do get that and I have always known it was

referring pain from the shoulder. Until next time take care.

Hi , It's Lorie...sorry to hear about your shoulders. I just got the

results for my body scan and my shoulders stood out like a sore thumb. I can

expect to have problems with them in the near furture. This took me by

surprize, because I have normal uptake in all the other joints (except for

the wrists and ankles..they are have a little more then normal). Please keep

me informed of your progress and surgery. I will find this to be of some

value.

Hope you are having a great day...have a happy and pain free one !

Way to get things done . Good planning, good therapy, and an idea of

how to rehabilitate and be pain free. I love your attitude and wish

everything goes well. Question: Do you donate your own blood for surgery?

I always have and feel more secure. Thanks for letting us know, Melt

Hi ,

You have a fantastic attiude! Stay with our group, we

need you!

One more surgery hey? You are " truly bionic. " Since

I have had one knee replacement & both shoudlers,

some of my friends call me " bionic, " but they haven't

met you....bionic king!

Is the pain severe..where the shoulder is no more??

I bet it is. At least the surgery should take care of

the pain.

Good for you to be doing the therapy too...when the pain

gets too intense ..stop..but, you already know that.

How many teeth need pulling? To me that's almost worse

than the shoulder replacement.

Hello everyone,

I am back from my appt. When I first got to my surgeon's office they

took a xray of that shoulder, so they could compare them to the xrays

token in 2001. My surgeon walks into the room and told me that my

shoulder couldn't hurt and then after a slight pause he said I don't

have a shoulder lol. My shoulder is completely gone, bone on bone.

Told me I only had two options, leave it alone or do the surgery. I

opt for the Surgery. But I won't be having done until sometime in

Aug. I have to finish having the rest of my bottom teeth pulled

before I have another surgery. And he won't know what parts can be

replaced until after he gets in my shoulder. Not sure if he can do

the full replacement. That depends on if my rotor cuff is still in

good enough shape. But it will be some type of replacement of the

shoulder. So this will be my 6th joint to be replaced and it will be

my 5th surgery in 5 years. I am on a role lol. I am starting therapy

tomorrow to try and get more range of motion out of the shoulder and

keep that range of motion for the surgery. So that's about all for

now. Talk to you all soon. Until then take care.

Do you donate your own blood for surgery?

Hello,

Yes I always donate my own blood. They have never had to use any of

the blood I have donated so they just throw it away after the surgery.

tricia,

Yeah the pain is really bad again. Saturday when I woke up I couldn't

move that arm for 4 hours the pain was so bad. I have been dropping a

lot of things lately when my shoulder is really sore. Just the other

night I had just opened a can of pop and only took one drink out of

it and the next thing I knew it was on the floor, and by the time I

got bent overy and got the can it was all in my floor.

I just have my front bottom teeth left that need to be pulled. I

won't feel a thing. They have to do it in the hospital and they put

me all the way out. My jaw don't open to far anymore. And at least

when I am under they can crank on the jaw a bit more then if I was

awake. Plus all the antibotics I have to go on due to the replaced

joints.

keep up that wonderful, positive attitude! You are an inspiration here to

us all. I am glad that your appointment went okay and hopefully that

surgery will do you good. You are an old pro at it by now, I know. I am

sorry for the teeth thing. I have a huge phobia of the dentist!!! Since I

have been on prednisone..teeth always seem to break now. You are a strong

person!

Hi everyone,

I went to the surgeon Friday morning. They are going to do the knee

replacements both at the same time. He left it completely up to me,

and I think it would really help. He said the bad thing about it is it

wearing out and I'll have to go through the surgery again in 10-15

years. But I really think it will be worth it, I want to be able to do

things again, things I can't do now. Anyway the nurse said the

recovery time is longer for both, 5 days in the hospital and then they

send their patients who have both done to a rehab center to stay, but

she didn't say for how long. So heres a question for those who have

had both done at the same time, if you had to go to a rehab center for

how long? Now I need a laptop for when I'm in there, I'll still have a

way to check email.

They are supposed to call one day this week with a pre op appt date.
