PharmCon's " CE ON SUNDAY " March 6th, 2005

Hello Pharmacists-

We're back!!!

PharmCon is again presenting " CE On Sunday " , an all day FREE seminar

where you can obtain up to 7 (SEVEN) ACPE credits.

In addition, continental breakfast is FREE, lunch is FREE. This

exceptional day of CE includes door prizes, T-Shirt toss, and your CE

certificate is distributed at the end of the seminar.

Last year's program in Anaheim was " sold out " and this program will

be limited to the first 500 attendees. This year the program will be

held in the Northern LA area, possibly Pasadena or Burbank.

PharmCon, Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for

Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education

presentation and complete an evaluation form, which must be turned

Achieving Aggressive Lipid Goals with Dual Inhibition

Presented by Geneva Briggs, Pharm.D., BCPS Clinical Associate,

MedOutcomes.

Given updated guidelines suggesting very low LDL goals for the

highest risk patients, come learn the advantages of getting patients

to target goals with combination therapy.

Program Objectives:

At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

1. Describe the relationship between lipids and the risk for coronary

events.

2. Review the clinical data for aggressive lipid management.

3. Explain the rationale for combination therapy in lipid management.

Getting to the Heart of the Matter: Metabolic Syndrome Presented by

Geneva Briggs, Pharm.D., BCPS Clinical Associate, MedOutcomes,

Inc.

What is metabolic syndrome and why should pharmacists care? This

session will address identification of patients who may have the

syndrome and how to avoid long-term consequences of the syndrome.

Program Objectives:

At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

1. Explain metabolic syndrome in terms of prevalence,

identification, risk factors, and sequelae.

2. Outline the cardiovascular consequences of the syndrome.

3. Describe the primary pharmacological and non-pharmacological

treatments for metabolic syndrome and its component diseases.

4. Describe the role of the pharmacist in screening and monitoring

patients with metabolic syndrome.

Women's Health Issues: Boning Up on Osteoporosis

Presented by Rosenthal, Pharm.D., President, MedOutcomes, Inc.

Today's post-menopausal woman is active and dynamic! Yet, less than

1/3 of cases of osteoporosis have been diagnosed. Pharmacists'

interaction with this patient population is critical to help

identify those at greatest risk for developing the condition and

then achieve treatment goals. This program provides information on

osteoporosis, its diagnosis and management.

Program Objectives:

At the conclusion of this program, the participant will be able to:

1. Define osteoporosis

2. List the primary risk factors for osteoporosis

3. Describe therapies for the prevention of osteoporosis

4. Explain the mechanism of action and role in therapy of the drugs

approved for osteoporosis
