Guest guest
I realize the old practice exam is still up on their site. My observation is that they had a headline for about two months about a new practice exam, coming soon. What I (and I assume everyone else) assumed was that is was going to be another free resource for individuals planning on taking the test. Instead, what we found when they initialized it was that it is in no way comparable to the 2002 Practice Exam for three main reasons: 1st - there are fewer questions on the new " practice exam " than on the actual exam. Yes, I understand this is for practice, but candidates are likely to get an unfair estimation of the balance of types of questions on the test. 2nd - the length of time allowed to take the test is considerably shorter than what would be expected. A practice exam is just that, an opportunity to practice and try out the types of questions that will be on the exam, not take the questions over a certain period of time. 3rd - the cost. PTCB is ripping potential candidates off by charging to take what they're calling a " practice " exam. A practice exam allows a student to see the types of questions and exercise their brain, not push to answer a limited number of questions over a short period of time. PTCB is doing candidates a disservice by offering this new " practice exam " and I for one am disappointed. I will, however, continue to send people to the old practice exam as long as it is available. a Ellis, CPhT > i can understand why everyone is upset over paying for a practice > test... however i was able to take the older practice test that > consists of 125 questions for free. you just have to look for it. > Here's how: > 1)when you go to the website, you can access the free test if > the " PTCB Interactive " box comes up on your screen in the top left > corner. > 2)If you see it, then click <Site Map> > 3)Under the " Exam Information " category, click on > the " Practice Test " link. > 4)You have to answer some mock questions in order to access the > test. > > Once you complete the test, it will give you your test results back > and the answers to the questions you got wrong... Guest guest
Well said a!! I also placed a note on the PTCB board with my displeasure, asking them to give us reason for the charge. In adddition, as another on the bulletin board pointed out, many who would need this practice exam make only a min wage or slightly higher. It is a rip off. If they can substanitate the cost with operations cost then I think we could all listen to reason, but they never offered this information. In hopes of a change.... Guest guest
The link is within the green banner on the top of the page. It is the same banner that stated " Practice Test Coming Soon. " Just click on it and you will be taken to information about the new practice test. a Ellis, CPhT > > > i can understand why everyone is upset over paying for a practice > > > test... however i was able to take the older practice test that > > > consists of 125 questions for free. you just have to look for it. > > > Here's how: > > > 1)when you go to the website, you can access the free test if > > > the " PTCB Interactive " box comes up on your screen in the top > left > > > corner. > > > 2)If you see it, then click <Site Map> > > > 3)Under the " Exam Information " category, click on > > > the " Practice Test " link. > > > 4)You have to answer some mock questions in order to access the > > > test. > > > > > > Once you complete the test, it will give you your test results > back > > > and the answers to the questions you got wrong...
