Sorry Charlie--It may sound like Joe but these are my own

thoughts...and the organizations I was thinking of were the

pharmacist organizations which gladly accept tech membership but do

not allow us to vote on key issues--these groups also seem to always

cave in to the demands of the chains. You can search the archives of

the various tech sites and see that PTCB's lack of prereqs for

testing and chain influence/pressure on pharmacy practice have been a

beef of mine for a number of years---long before the " great tech

schism " .

Hi Dora,

Just imagine the tech who has the experience and is book smart or trainable.

Would any state let them sit for the pharmacy boards w/o having graduated from

an accredited pharmacy school? Don't think so!!! How about someone who drops

out in the last year of school? Wanna sit for boards? No way! Even foreign

schooled pharmacists can't come here and expect a license automatically.

But if you want to be a certified pharmacy technician - hey, so long as your

checks don't bounce or better yet if you a have a credit and can pay on-line -

you're more than half way there.

The employers see this, and pay us accordingly. Until educational or

experential prereqs are established there will be no reason to pay

the CPhT with 15 years experience any differently than the CPhT who

never stepped foot in a pharmacy, but had enough 'book smarts' to

pass a 125 question exam.
