To Jeanie!

Good luck to you. I think there is a lot to learn about managing pain and

depression in your message.

Can you describe more exactly what the Therap.Massage Spec. do to help you

with the pain?

Many regards from Rose in Sweden

Hi Amy -

Thanks for sharing your story with us. I also live in NJ (central) - do you

know which other hospitals in the state have cranial facial units? My son is

71/2 months and has an appointment with a neurosurgeon in July so we can

confirm that his problem is plagiocephaly and not a prematurely fused suture.

I'm just wondering what resources are available in the state. Thanks!

Amy:

You should be able to log in on your sister's computer (***"I think!!***).

If not, make her a member, then unsubscribe her.

Go to the files section at the community page. Up in the right

hand corner you will see 2 buttons. If you have 1 picture, pick "create

file", if you have more, pick " create folder", name it, then create files

in your folder. It will give you a place to "browse" thru the hard

drive to find the photos you want to upload.

Hope this helps!

Hi ,

I think the hospitals are Univesity Hospital in Newark and a hospital in

Trenton. I will find out when I go to St. ph's on Wed for PT. St.

Joe's is in Paterson and it has a wonderful children's hospital. Is this

convenient for you? St Joe's is the largest cranio-facial unit in NJ. If

you need any info. I'd be glad to help. You can even e-mail me off list.

Hi Amy,

We live down near Freehold, so while we could do St. Joe's I was just curious

what else might be closer. It sounds like St. Joe's is the best though - I

remember someone else in the group being very pleased with her child's

treatment there. Did it take you a while to get an appointment? Did you

just call the hospital or did your ped need to refer you? I've heard that

the neurosurgeon we are seeing next month rarely prescribes helmets, so I'm

thinking it might help to set up an appointment for a 2nd opinion now in case

we decide we need one - that way we might not lose another month (Jack is

nearly 8 mos. now).

And it's especially generous of you to help me, considering we're GIANTS

fans!!

Thanks!

Amy -

Thanks for the info - I think I'll call and see when I can get an

appointment. I would be curious to know about the other hospitals, just in

case. I'm sorry your girls have been through so much - it must be so

stressful for all of you. You seem to have such a positive attitude! I hope

they can treat the pneumonia quickly and that your little Jets fan is back in

action soon.

Hi

Yes, I do think it is quite nice of me to help a Giants fan!!! (only

kidding, of course I'd help!) I luckily got an appointment pretty quickly,

but we are VERY connected to St. Joe's. Both Alyssa and have been

there for various things, surgeries, apnea clinic, gastro exams, etc. I am

there at least once per week with . I could write a book (we had FOUR

appointments today alone - Alyssa my 3.5 year old is being treated for

PNEUMONIA!). Age has something to do with it also. I think the older a

baby is the more likely they are to get them in quicker for obvious reasons.

Jack would probably get in quicker because he is older. was casted

at 9 months.

Yes, my ped referred me to the clinic (along with a referral from the PT who

is treating 's torticollis). I definitely think you should set up an

appointment with them.

If you need ANY further help, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Amy :-)

GO JETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blinda;

That can be so frusturating. I was tired of sounding like a broken

record too. I decided to write a very detailed letter along with a

packet of info on the band, it's treatment and the cause of Plagio and

the success stories. I mailed out copies of all of this to all of our

friends and family so that when they see Skylar I don't have to go into

my 30 minute spiel about his condition and all. It was very informative

for everyone, and they all thanked me for updating them. .....it might

help.

they don't understand. You're right about them not being able to tell

about her head shape, that's funny.

Thanks for the info about getting used to the band, we'll see how it

goes, our appt. is Friday at noon. I'm getting anxious about the

unknown. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

Christy,

Welcome. Just for your info, there is an e-groups list called biliary

dyskinesia. (Did I spell that right?) I was on it for a while when I

thought that might be my problem. You can actually have it when you still

have your gallbladder. My gastroenterologist wanted to rule that out before

recommending surgery. He said I could have my gallbladder out, and still

have the pain, because it might not be the problem in the first place.

Unfortunately, many doctors don't look at this as a possibility first.

You may well have been able to be treated for dyskinesia, and kept your

gallbladder.

Best of luck to you.

Debra

Hello Helge and welcome!

I was in Norway in 1983 - it's a beautiful country! :) Glad you've joined

the list and I hope that you find some suggestions and help for your

digestive problems. There is also a bowel cleanse group that might be of

interest to you as well - it's sort of a " sister group " to this one (to use a

very sexist term!!).

Thanks for the information you've shared.

>My biggest confusion now is the proper role grains should play in our diet,

Personally, I tend to think that the sicker someone is, the further away

they should get from grains. Grains definitely weren't part of the diet we

evolved to handle, so even though we can detoxify them by soaking and

whatnot, I still tend to think they're less optimal than other foods we're

better adapted to eat, and in the case of illness, the margin of what you

can tolerate tends to shrink and even vanish.

>what I should do about going to the dentist (I need to have 5

>fillings...I'll cost $70 for mercury or $3000 for the composite),

Ouch! That's a huge price differential! Nonetheless, avoid mercury like

the plague. There's practically no end to the list of problems it can

cause, many of them extremely serious.

In fact, consider whether you *really* need fillings at all. Are your

teeth very painful and in immediate danger, or are the cavities small

enough that you can safely tolerate them while switching to a very raw diet

to re-mineralize your teeth, repairing the cavities naturally? Many, many,

many people have reported tooth and bone re-mineralization on a highly raw

diet. This is another reason to avoid grains entirely, at least until

you've regained your health -- past a certain point, the more grains

traditional cultures consumed, even when preparing them properly, the more

cavities and other problems they had. Now, someone who's grown up eating

right, born to parents who ate right, etc., can doubtless thrive on a

certain amount of properly-prepared grains, but again, the sicker you are,

the more you have to go back to a natural diet of raw meats and fats.

(Certain vegetables are good raw, but others have anti-nutrients which

require cooking to deactivate, so you'll always have to cook at least some

of your food if you eat them.)

Hope this helps -- good luck!

> whether or not I should pay those high prices for Celtic sea salt,

I keep a small amount of Celtic sea salt around, but for both

convenience and cost, most of my daily use salt is RealSalt (that's

the brand name). One reason I like it is that it specifically lists

the iodine content (naturally occurring, it's not iodized) and it

seems higher than most of the sea salt I've seen. It's 10% RDA per

quarter teaspoon if I remember correctly. Oh and it's also much

tastier than ordinary salt...not quite as tasty as the coarse celtic

salt though.

> what I should do about going to the dentist (I need to have 5

> fillings...I'll cost $70 for mercury or $3000 for the composite),

I assume that you added one too many zeros on the price for the

composite filling. If you did, and the price is only $300,

definitely go with the composite...although you can probably find it

cheaper with another dentist. If you didn't use one too many zeros,

and they really tried to charge you $3,000 for a filling, get a

different dentist immediately. Then check with your attorney

general, dental board etc to see if you can get the crook's license

to practice revoked. I just had a mercury filling removed because it

had a hole in it, and I had it replaced with a composite filling.

The entire visit cost less than $300. Seriously!

Me: In my opinion, this is very good advice. I've seen this happen many

many times. Also from my own personal experience two of my teeth sealed

off without having a filling. I'm actually considering having a composite

removed and allowing my body to seal and remineralize the area. But

is right, it requires a mostly raw diet to pull it off.

I also think that she added an extra zero as my

composite fillings cost me about $100 each.

That seems much more reasonable! I haven't been to a dentist in about 15

years, so I just figured prices had gone even further out of control than

I'd thought. <g>
