Hi Jackie, I didn't have time to chat tonight so didn't try to log on. But

for me, it's been a lot easier to access the chats since . With

OneList I always had to try repeatedly to log on and often finally just gave

up. It's funny you'd have the opposite experience . . . computers! :-/

Kathy, I know you were probably joking, but don't start ragging on Macs.

The problem isn't with Jackie's Mac, rather the problem is with the

Internet connection at that time. I'm a diehard, devoted Mac user, and I

haven't had any problems with chat groups on or elsewhere.

So Jackie, be proud to be a Mac user. Don't get " assimilated " along with

the other PC drones! ;-)

OK, enough. Let's get back to talking about OCD.

I couldn't seem to access tha chat screen tonight. I have sent a message

to about this. When I looked at their system requirements they did not

say anything about the MAC OS. I'm hoping they have not changed the

requirements and that hopefully I will be able to get on next week.

Otherwise, I guess I'll have to start going back to the map library on Sunday

evening.

Here's the details for everyone who wants to try it out:

Time (I hope I have calculated right - I've only calculated a few

from around the world hopefully everyone can calculate theirs from

these - there are a lot of time calculators on the net also.):

10AM Eastern US / 9AM Central US / 8AM Mountain US / 7AM Pacific US

2:00PM GMT/UTC (Greenwich Mean Time/Zulu time)

7:30PM India

12:00AM Sydney, Australia on THURSDAY AM

2:00AM New Zealand on THURSDAY AM

(Ug! The times for those 'down under' are pretty late - but maybe

there's some night owls there that will join us)

Place: achalasia group chat:

achalasia/chat

(or in the achalasia group, click on Chat in the left hand side

menu).

Suggestions: I have never used chat before, but did a small

test this morning that went well - no problems encountered. Here are

my suggestions if you want to chat on Wednesday:

1. Test out the link to chat before hand. If you have not used

chat before it will ask if you want to load two plugins. I am

running IE 5.x and was able to load the plugins OK. It only took a

couple minutes but I am on a fast connection.

2. Make sure you are actually logged into the Achalasia Group. At

the top right, if you see a link to " Sign Out " then you are logged

in. If you see a link to log in, then I believe you will need to use

it and log in before you will be able to chat.

3. You'll show up on the chat under your " " name. When first

chatting, remember to add your actual name (or what we're used to

from reading your posts) to your message so we know who's talking.

4. chat help lists the following as system requirements:

A personal computer running Microsoft Windows 95, 98, NT, or 2000

Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 4.0 or later) or Netscape

Navigator (version 4.08 or later). If you are on AOL you need to be

on version 3.0 or higher. Other tech info for AOL users can be found

at: http://help./help/us/chat/chat-05.html

5. does have voice chat, which I'm guessing we won't use (I

could be wrong - at least I know I won't be using it right now due to

the requirements.) Info on that can be found at:

For this chat I'm expecting the usual typed message chat, though.

I had the same problem. I haven't been able to get into chat for

several weeks now. I wonder if it's an AOL/CompuServe problem

(they're owned by the same company)? I do know that CompuServe has

been VERY slow lately and experiencing 'server' difficulties.

and installed, you can invite friends. I do intend to

get a chat going, hopefully next weekend, maybe June 1

or 2. Three of us have had a voice conference using

Messenger. If you use the voice conference, you

can invite alot of people to the chat, but you don't

necessarily have to talk, you can still type.

I have went to the c-toma chat room many times and it is always empty.

So i gave up

if you go to the homepage it will show an option on the top somewhere that says Messenger

hit that button and download Instant messanger and you are in!! It will help youthrough the setup process

I use three different screen names: miskayhud, agapemuzikluver, and melliekaye

I mostly use Melliekaye
