Some reference points might be gleaned from the results of other CR

practioners:

I don't think these " reference " points are good examples of moderation.

There is at least man who is 5'11 " and weighs 118 pds and one woman who is

5'7 " 1/2 at 90 lbs. I would call the latter anorexic.

Please heed Al Pater's warning.

These are extreme examples IMHO and we would like to caution moderation

here.

I agree, Franscesca-

Some of them are extreme examples. But, personally, I am not extreme in my

diet, and I'm on that table. I think it's a rather heterogeneous group. Some

are, as you note, extreme, but there are many who have posted to this group

who have statistics that are equally " extreme, " either by design, or by

chance, genetics, serendipidy.

As I recall, the CR mice I saw on TV were healthier, looked fatter, not really skinny mice. I realize there were tests that showed some mice were smaller, but they didn't appear "gaunt". Am I wrong about that? Maybe the healthy looking fur covers the bare bones?

Regards.

Agreed.... I think we have much difficulty gauging amount of restriction, what is a personal set point, etc.

Dog studies also showed healthy looking restricted animals..... Perhaps a useful rule of thumb, if you don't look and feel healthy, perhaps you aren't (only half joking).

Due to wide variance in genetic makeup and prior experience I suspect only blood tests will be a reliable way to manage extreme CR, and we are still working to define what are those metrics.
