Radio Shack, any hardware store, etc.

Have you tried warming/cooling it, or looked for someone else who is 'gadget

wise'?

Try removing the screws to get the battery lid off. There is a

little clip that fits into the end of the battery compartment that

can be filed down a tiny bit with a nail file. On some units this

part of the plastic gets stuck. Call the office M-F 8-4 at 1-800-224-

0242 and we can help you fix it real fast if you need assistance!

OK for the pulser, but of the cotton sleeves dry out you could get

electrical burns on the wrist, so keeping it on while sleeping is

not recommended!

No. You are suppose to gradually build up to 2 hours a day on the

I usually wait about an hour before I drink again, just ot make sure I

give the stomach to digest the food and that way I dont wash it out and

become hungry again...some others may do something different. Good Luck!

Hi Donna, everyone has a different rule on this and I am pretty

Sure Dr. Aceves says 2 hours. Some other say at least an hour, and yet others

say 30 min. But if you think about it logically, the longer you wait to drink,

the longer you stay full so I say at least an hour (that is hard I know, but so

beneficial!!) It is so easy to get back into the bad habit of drinking with your

meals, I struggle with it every day. Just today I ate 2 chicken strips and then

forced myself to wait an hour and a half because I have been struggling with

hunger and you know what? I drank 8 oz of water when I was supposed to and I

didn’t eat again for another 5 hours. So that tells you my band is still

working, I just have to work my band!

I would talk to your doc about Immodium Liquid vs. IBS meds. Your diarrhea isn't from IBS so it may not help. Your diarrhea is likely from the antibiotics and the fact that you are taking in only liquids right now. IBS meds work for IBS symptoms. Your symptoms are likely for a different reason.

Yikes!! As I read this, I thought until the end that you and Candyce

were seeing the doc for a patial UNfill!!

I don't believe we should EVER EVER (ever! :-) get more fill when we

are having

ANY trouble at all! We must have mastered one level of fill

completely, before we even think about still more fill.

If she is sliming often, something is wrong. It is either too much

fill, eating techniques, or something else we'll help you figure out.

But, please please, no more fill for now!

It's 1:30 am here, so more in the morning!

She does not eat it even though she says she can. Her weight is

sliming when eating she should not get a fill? Alyce

I am going to call when the Dr. gets in and cancel the fill. She is still

scared from the last overfill, so I think I feel more comfortable about

cancelling it. I think it varies with her and sometimes, even long periods of

times she seems to need a fill and then other times she seems well restricted.

She has lost 42 lbs and seems to be losing small amounts, which is fine, we are

in no hurry for loss as long as it keeps going down. She slimed at the

restaurant yesterday and I thought oh my gosh we are leaving for a fill

tomorrow. Then when I asked her about it she says she slimes a lot, which I

did not know. Do you think she is drinking enought water. It has been over 100

degrees here. Alyce

Hi Candyce,

I was busy this weekend so I didn't respond to your earlier post about

the sliming so here goes now. My experience is that sliming is because

something is stuck - either because I didn't chew well, took too big a

bite, or am eating too fast. The latter is a particularly bad habit

that resurfaces when I forget to eat and then am too hungry when I do

eat. (I never thought I'd be one of those people who forget to eat but

it happens now...) The sliming is my body's attempt to lubricate and

move something through. I get reflux when I'm overfilled rather than

excessive sliming but I know from reading the boards that some people

get lots of sliming when they're too tight. Anyway, those are the

possible causes that I know about. And I have to say I agree with

Sandy, she needs to fix whatever is causing the frequent sliming before

getting more fill. Otherwise, there's a risk of causing excessive

vomiting which can lead to slipping, or severe inflammation or something

else nasty and difficult.

Hope this helps,

Agree completely with Sandy.....no fill if you're having trouble.

Sliming is possibly due to being too tight. More likely, at least for me, it

is due to eating too fast, too big of bites, or eating " bad things " . For me,

pasta is a bad thing. It gets stuck. Same with bananas. Same with bread.

When you find what the bad things are, don't eat them. Easy.

No, really it is hard, as they may well be favorite things. But it is VERY

important and often VERY hard to learn to change those old habits. Sliming is a

reminder.

Hang in there...

It sounds like after reading the emails she thinks she is taking too big of

bites. She is working on it.

The doc isn't scheduling fills regularly, far in advance, is he? I

believe we should geet fills only when needed, never on any kind of

set schedule. INO, this is begging for overfils and other trouble.

When out loss has stalled for a few weeks, it's always tempting to

run for more fill. but, imo, more fill should be last on tyhe list of

things to do.

First, review all these things:

- eating resonably well? Decent band foods most (maybe 75-80%) of the

time?

- getting decent exercise? We just will not lose well without it. If

we are not getting it, and run for more fill every time we stall

briefly, this is almost a guarantee of getting too tight for safety.

- enough fluids? 100 oz aday is a good goal, and more if it is very

hot or we are exercising heavily. This really means sipping all day

long, which the band LOVES. A steady hydration level helps minimize

the normal variaton in the feeling of restriciton.

- having NO trouble with eating, but just able to eat too much and

not staying satisfied for 3-4 hrs after a good band meal

ONLY IF all these things are ok, should we consider more fill. We

always want to have as little fill as we can to still do well, never

as much as we can try to tolerate.

No the doc is not scheduling ahead of time. When Candyce felt she could eat

bread she thought that maybe she needed a fill. It has been quite a while since

her fill. It is always up to her when she thinks she needs one. I did not know

about the sliming until she told me. I do not think it is too bad, I think with

chicken and meat it happens, which is what she eats with meals. So anyway we

will take your advice and wait. Her hair has really thinned out, but it seems

to be coming back. She has a ton of stubs. She does well with protein, much

better than before, so I think that is all ok. If it was not for these boards I

would have freaked out over this hair thing, but I now know it will come back.

What is funny it her bangs are dyed blonde and pink(she has almost black

hair)and she showed me her stubs and they were all black. It looked a little

scary kind of like black bugs in all that blonde and pink hair lol. Alyce

One woman I met at a seminar told us that she was having elevated

ETG's. She started having blood alcohol levels drawn, and a breath test

done immediately after she did her urine. She kept this up for a couple

of months. They finally seemed to pinpoint it on her new psych med. I

can't remember the name of it, but it was one I never had heard before.

Ummmmm....HELLO....I'm a EtG expert and I'm in Sacramento! Heeheehee...What a JOKESTER I am!

Well, there's always Skipper's "auto-brewery protocol" that I could dig up. But it never successfully diagnosed anyone as being an endogenous ethanol producer, so I wouldn't bother with that. Looking at the 1983 article I have on determining endogenous ethanol in blood and breath, I am wondering if the methods of testing they describe are achievable by any of us. Their focus is on breath testing. The methodology is GC-MS. But they describe a "freeze-trapped sample of breath". Sounds like something only done in a test lab and not something my friendly Quest Diagnostics staff would be familiar with! Anybody else got any ideas on this one? Maybe that UCSD toxicologist would have some insight. It's over my head.

I attempted that in court to get another test and they contacted the state police crime lab toxicologist of whom didn't get the samhsa report as of the time and he as my post a long time ago said it was accurate , I called him after my case was over and now he is signing a different tune . But its Too late she is gone for good now..she is ok though so I am grateful she is with family , it could have been worse and she would be going thru a system that is rally screwy as far a bouncing thru foster care ect.. still sucks though because she wont talk to me because of the erroneous test results. Its a great way to steal kids Ill tell ya.. In a message dated 7/3/2007 9:57:42 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, nautiques5@... writesSee what's free at AOL.com.

diane everybody produces EtG exponentially from whatever endogenous alcohol they are exposed to or make...for me a place to start would be a %CDT in concert with EtG which would probably be normal...a good non lab affiliated toxicologist can help you sort this out...if you are off all meds being careful with exposure it is not you rather the false exponential variability of this highly sensitive non specific false test...regards,rdoetta5555 <doetta5555@...> wrote: I received a call today

saying I have another positive etg. This time it was 1800, my highest. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. What type of test is there that would find out if your body produces etg? any other ideas? Does anyone know of an etg expert in Sacramento? Thanks, Diane
