aireph,

My husband and daughter both had loose bowels after just a small bit of the VCO.

I for the first time in my life was not constipated. But I honestly think it

was boosting my thyroid to much. To be quit frank I am sensitive to many

things, so I went off just for today and plan on starting out again tomorrow

like you with just a small about so my body has time to get used to it.

I to have Candida and think that perhaps I was just detoxing to fast as was

stated in an article I posted earlier.

Who really knows for certain? All I know is other than the speeded up heart I

felt great.

Take Care

Hello Bruce and whoever else wishes to help,

Perhaps you can help me. I was tested last month and told that I

was " allergic " to coconut oil, not to coconut or coconut milk those

are OK, but to the oil. Someone in this group mentioned that that

didn't make sense and I agree. How can I be allergic to the oil and

not the other parts of the coconut? Since I have several physical

issues, I decided to stop taking it. Before the test I had only been

on coconut oil for a couple of weeks, 1 Tbsp a day in a kefir

smoothie with honey and frozen strawberries. I really did not feel

much physical discomfort after taking it, a little stomach rumbling,

gas and slight activity in that department, things like that. I had

no complaints. My husband had a violent reaction every time with

strong and painful gas, our 23 year old son reacted sort of like me

or even better.

After revisiting this group I have decided to give it a go again and

start over very slowly, 1 tsp. a day. Someone here suggested that

perhaps it was my candida (which I do have a problem with) does not

want me to take it. Do you think it's a good idea for me to take

VCO after this test? The timing of the test was coincidental with

the recent introduction of VCO in my diet. The last thing I wish to

do it cause myself more physical problems. VCO just has so many

great benefits and I could use them all.

I also started giving some VCO to our dog, just about a 1/2 tsp,

maybe less, to avoid diarrhea (sensitive stomach). He has such a

problem with ear infections. He'll drink a little kefir, but not

much. I'm hoping to gradually increase both of these great foods.

I also give him a raw egg a day from free range, pasteur fed,

organic chickens. Question, will I still need to give him heart

worm pills and flea oil stuff (we're in Florida, lots of fleas) or

will the kefir and VCO take care of these in the long run after I've

increased his amounts? How much should a small dog (about 15

pounds) take of these?

Thank you all for your help.

Gas is a sign of bowel dysbiosis -- a fluorish of the wrong bowel

bacteria. Although lactobacilli also produce some gas, bifidobacteria

do not, so overall, the good bowel bacteria produce less than 10% of

the amount of gas the incorrect do.

An excellent list for subjects of bowel dysbiosis is the candidiasis

group.

People are getting relief by simply putting inulin back into the diet

that historically was plentiful, but is much reduced in our modern

diets. It encourages probiotic bacteria that outcompete unwanted

organisms. Here's the science on it:

I wold also recommend giving some DE (diatomaceous earth) in his food.

I give my boys about 1 TBS three or four times a week.

Diatomaceous Earth is the powder that's formed from the skeletons of

millions of microscopic critters called " diatoms " and they are

amazing. The " fossil flour " as it's called, is used in grain storage

to keep bugs away. It is completely and in all ways totally nontoxic.

Except you don't want to breathe in a lot of it.

These microscopic skeletons are hell on bugs. Essentially, any insects

that go walking, flying, or crawling through this stuff will scrape

their exoskeleton and die. It is harmless to us with internal

skeletons, LOL! It is also very valuable inside of the animal in that

it helps to get rid of worms and help with the digestibility of their

food.

Google on diatomaceous earth and you will get some amazing information!!

PS - There are two kinds - one for swimming pool filters (which you

don't want unless it's for your swimming pool) and another type for

gardening/pest control/food use. Great stuff. And with careful

shopping, quite cheap.

This is very interesting, Duncan. Thank you for educating us.

Is it possible to add more of these foods to out diet and get what

we need? We eat a lot of onions and garlic and even some leeks, and

bananas, but not too many. About how many would we have to eat a

day to benefit us and is cooking them OK?
